This book was so good. I could tell the author did research on what it’s like to be in a cult because the cult that was created was very realistic. I also love the personal growth that Strike showed in this book. I’m so happy that he’s finally going to try to be happy!

Based on The Running Grave and Ink Black Heart, I don't think in the future I will approach Galbraith novels the same way I approach most mysteries. There's no "figuring it out", for me. I think I'd come close if I took notes or tabbed while reading (I'd like to use tabs next time: reminder to self). But, there are an overwhelming amount of red herrings and inconsequential details that I think, for me, any certainty of the "right" answer is impossible. I end up having detailed theories about how it could be *everyone* and one theory out of a dozen ends up being close to right. That takes away some of the joy of solving it. Which would usually make me dismiss the author. But Galbraith/Rowling's strength has always been in characterization. I'm sucked into the lives and choices of Robin and Cormoran and I love all the agency employees, friends, clients, and suspects. Everyone is three dimensional, introduced organically and interesting. And there's always growth.

Plus, it's a cult mystery. That's a quick 5 stars right there.

I blew through this book in less than a week. I'll impatiently wait for the next one.
