I wasn’t the target audience for this book so it dragged a bit, but I find an appreciation for her, as well as gained some interesting perspectives.

I think she was really vulnerable in this, so I’m not gonna say too much bad about it. I think that it would’ve benefited from further editing & rewriting in certain spots. There was a clear attempt at organizing and structuring the book, so that the life lessons could be applied by the audience. I think that is a noble goal, but I think many of the ideas seemed very young or surface level to me. I think that is just a result of her literal age as she wrote this, though. I’m not much older, only by like 3 years. So I’m not saying I’m like way more mature or anything, but I also don’t think I have lived enough life to say anything interesting at 26, so I think writing a memoir at 23/24 is a little premature. There were moments of this book where I felt that she seemed a bit lost.

Regardless, I think that Madison seems like an intelligent and emotionally versatile woman, who is much more than the public makes her out to be. And I think that she will have some interesting and insightful things to say in the future. It was interesting to learn that she has Borderline Personality Disorder, and that she has a history with self harm and addiction, as well as suicidality. I had a lot of empathy for her as a human as I read this. I believe she is probably a genuinely sweet woman, who got wrapped up into a really crazy world at a vulnerable and impressionable age.
