Possibly the most fun I have ever had with an autobiography. Neil Patrick Harris is a natural entertainer, he makes sure this book is consistently fun while never shying away from the darker parts of his life. I laughed out loud and teared up many times. I do wish that Neil focused more on career-related failures, however, as his rise seemed to have very little, if any, setbacks. And even though I welcome the "death scenarios" that come every now and then, some of them get a bit of annoying in how long they are.
I would recommend it to anyone who is either interested in Neil Patrick Harris' life or just wants to read an unconventional yet enjoyable autobiography.

I had mixed reactions to the Choose-Your-Own-Adventure approach. There were some really funny parts, with the obligatory "you died in quicksand"-type endings, but I mostly read it from beginning to end, which meant that there were big, disconnected leaps sometimes from one page to the next. But NPH's voice is fun and friendly, and he's a good storyteller.

This memior was witty, fun and definitely an adventure. It made me laugh, cry and more. I already want to read it again.
Neil Patrick Harris wrote his autobiography in Choose Your Own Adventure style. I was worried this will be both fact and fiction, but in reality it was more like: “Do you want to read more about Tony Awards or about something else?”. Sometimes your path will end up in dead end, so make sure you know what page you were previously in.
The ability to skip stuff the reader’s not interested in is really cool in this autobiography. I hope the Choose Your Own Adventure style will be developed and become a standard in autobiographys. The reader won’t be bored if they can skip stuff they know already or they’re just not interested. I, personally, was more interested in stories about NPH’s career and family life than stories about partying in Sir Elton John’s private yacht.
But… why NPH wrote his autobiography when he’s just 41 years old? Will there be part 2 in another 40 years?

So funny!
The "choose your own autobiography" does not translate perfect to an audiobook format. But that is the price to pay for listening to Neil Patrick Harris narrating it himself.

I love NPH because he seems like such a great guy. I got to learn so much about him and his life.
I think the format was a brilliant idea. I went through all the possible scenarios to get the best out of this autobiography. I think that I might even get a paper copy because it was just that perfect. His humor is sprinkled throughout and you truly get to see the real NPH via "his perspective".
I would recommend this book to anyone, really. It's perfect in its own way.
