3.5 stars. This was fun, and clever. A creative twist on the celebrity memoir/autobiography. I've always liked NPH and I still do. He seems down to earth and smart, yet kind. He's a great voice over actor so his own narration was quite entertaining (audiobook) and I got a kick out of the random fictional dramatic death scenes. I did skip an entire section that was too R - rated for my taste (but hey, choose your own adventure, didn't affect the book at all.) I realized later that he was writing that portion as if he actually lived a series of R rated movies that he was in. So the R rating made sense, but I still skipped it. Overall, I enjoyed the peak inside the mind of NPH.
This was, to put it simply, fun. While I'm sure the book's novelty choose your own adventure element was great, I think NPH's narration just gave it the extra boost of enjoyment. It's full of wit and snark, as to be expected. It's also thoughtful and just a bit sappy. (I should check our download to see if we have access to any of the PDFs with David's recipes - I definitely want to try those!)
Probably the most fun I've had reading an autobiography!
Probably of 4 or 4.5 but Neil Patrick Harris just seems like a great person so I am adding a star. I have loved Neil Patrick Harris, mainly since watching him as Barney on How I Met Your Mother. This was such a fun read and totally different than most celebrity memoirs. I will be honest that the choose your own adventure format was really fun, but did not always work because I felt like I was missing great parts of the book! I loved the sense of humor in this book and loved that he decided to include a few cocktails, recipes and other random little additions. Overall it really showed how much he loves his husband David and his two children. Definitely recommend picking this up.
OUTSTANDING autobiography. I started reading this myself but finished it with the audio because you can’t beat NPH narrating himself. The audio version included actual audio clips from Neil’s own life and made it just that much more magical. Plus… cocktail recipes and magic tricks?! I adore this man and his quick, ingenious sense of humor. This book was so much fun to read and I would hiiiighly recommend it to anyone who enjoys the talents of Neil Patrick Harris.
I read this book the "autobiography" requirement of my reading challenge. The format is so refreshing. NPH is quite the character. The stories of his life are interesting, hilarious and heartwarming, to use a cliché. My favorite part--aside from the verbal takedown of Dustin Diamond--was the description of his love for his husband, David. I recommend this to all NPH fans!

I've never had so much fun reading an autobiography before. I actually laughed out loud (for reals) on countless occasions, which is something I don't often do while reading.
Like most, I know Neil Patrick Harris from HIMYM and fell in love with Barney. I also follow him on instagram and love seeing pictures of his beautiful family. So I guess you can say I'm a bit of an NPH stalker...
Anyways, I loved this choose-your-own-adventure-styled autobiography. Some it was incredibly heartfelt and beautifully written, some sections were sweet and funny and others were just downright ridiculous and LOL-funny (that's when you know you've picked the wrong adventure for NPH). I loved that NPH's fate was resting in my hands and with a turn of a page, I could decide whether or not he should be straight or gay. I could decide if he should be a successful actor or just another part-time sandwich shop boy dreaming of making it big in Hollywood. Or why not make him a professional magician instead of an actor?
The options are limitless! (well, not really but the options provided makes it that much more fun to read)

I really enjoyed choose your own adventure books when I was younger, so it was great to see the concept as an autobiography - It was a great way to learn all about NPH.
I would love to listen to this as an audiobook with NPH narrating - I feel he would bring even more life to his great adventure!

Tried reading the book and had a really hard time. I wanted the chronological order and didn't totally love the Choose Your Own Adventure format. Switched to audio and started from the beginning and found it MUCH more entertaining/easier to follow.
