This book was a very pleasant read. It was fast and funny and, much like NPH himself, completely delightful. I followed the "Choose Your Own Autobiography" paths until they dead-ended or I got bored, and then I went back and followed a new path. He's got some fun grisly death endings, a few sappy, sweet "my life is wonderful" endings (which are great), a couple of cocktail recipes and even some card tricks. There's just nothing to be mad at with this book. Unless you hate NPH, but who could POSSIBLY hate him? (Someone who hates puppies and laughter, that's who.) A complete delight, and I'm sure the audiobook, which is narrated by NPH and read straight through, is also wonderful. This is the fluffy cotton candy of literature, and there's nothing wrong with that.
I really enjoyed listening to NPH read this and he made me laugh out loud many times. However, I’m not a huge fan of the “choose your own adventure” format and don’t think I would have finished the book had I read it myself.

I really did love hearing about his backstory but the way its written actually made me hate it more than I thought. It written as if YOU are NPH which is fine but the whole choose your adventure aspect in an audiobook doesn't translate as well as I'm sure the book does. But how do you read a memoir and not hear it from the author?!

Finished this adventure today and am thoroughly enchanted with this magnificent specimen's life. Absolutely in awe. Is there hope for the real world to achieve any small portion of the excitement and love NPH has lived in one week?! I shall do my best!!!

I started to listen to the Audiobook and while it was so amazing to hear it in Neil Patrick Harris' voice, it wasn't quite a choose your own adventure. I then decided to get the real book and actually read it the way a choose your own adventure should be read. I loved it. So much fun to read it and get to choose where his life went. Glad I listened to the Audiobook and so as I read the book, I still had his voice in my head.

The audiobook version is phenomenal. The formatting was great. It featured excerpts from real recordings of various experiences. This features David, his husband. And!!!!! Neil narrated himself.
Obviously Im a huge fan of NPH. This book lent a lot of insight into his true personality versus the media's portrayal. It was honest and endearing to listen to him share his experiences both professional and personal. I also enjoyed the added fun drink recipes, lyrics, and magic tricks. This book was really entertaining overall.
NPH didnt come from addiction or a bad home so theres no dramatic and dark time to recount. The whole story is funny and pleasant while still holding substance and value.
NPH solidified himself as a person and entertainer with a unique perspective in this audiobook. It only made me admire him more. ♡

The content of this book was superb. Honest, funny, touching and beautiful.
The format was....an interesting idea but ultimately didn't work for me. I didn't enjoy "choose your own adventure" books as a kid and I didn't enjoy it now. I tried to do it the way I was supposed to, but for the most part ended up reading it straight through unless a page I came to clearly had to be jumped to from a page other than the one preceding it. Which didn't happen too much.
