Pacing was a bit mixed. Lots of lovely prose. Didn't feel like the protagonist ever actually learned anything (apart from developing her magic) and got everything she wanted, ultimately without any sacrifice.

This book has become one of my favorite books of all time. I seriously cannot recommend it enough. It is a vague re-telling of Beauty and the Beast but draws much more inspiration from Polish and Russian fairy tales and is a fresh, exciting take on the tale in my opinion. The main character is a wonderfully written, complex female character. If you are a fan of fairy-tales, this is the book for you.
