Why this book was assigned as summer reading for AP Lit is still beyond me but also how was I not obsessed with Celia and Marco. Like girl their story is right up your alley did you not process any of what was going on.

Favorite book of all time no notes

Don’t think this is really my genre but I enjoyed the writing style

Listening to it doesn’t feel the same as if I was physically reading it. Couldn’t get as immersed with the narrators voice even though Jim Dale is an icon

Least favourite thing about this was the “romance” between Marco and Celia. Is the romance in the room with us??? And also I don’t love Marco’s character, literally suffered no consequences for his actions and did not take much, if not any, responsibility for the things he did to other people.  But the atmosphere, writing, and the way the story came together at the end made up for those lacking parts. I actually loved how detailed the writing was. A slow burn book but I really enjoyed it.

re-read september 2014. just as magical and beautiful and romantical as i remember it.

magical and whimsical. i repetitously completely lost track of time while reading, the whole experience of the book felt more like a dream than an actual story.
the developement of the plot in the end disappointed me, there could have been more tension, risk and complications. It could have been a bit shorter, and i actually found the side charcters way more interesting than the two protagonists.
