This was adorable. I can see why it’s a little polarizing because Twinkle definitely makes some rough and immature decisions throughout the book. I was able to move past it though because she was so sweet and Sahil was even better. Sandhya Menon writes the bestttt cinnamon roll love interests and I am HERE FOR IT. The ending made me tear up, which I didn’t expect, so this is very much a winner in my mind.
I swear I don't usually cry over book, clay be just one, or two, or three including this one. I LOVE SANDHYA MENON HELP ME.

From Twinkle, with Love is an adorable contemporary featuring an Indian-American main character. Twinkle's biggest dream in life is to become an influential film-maker and someone who girls like her can look up to as they grow up. I loved that her dreams were so well developed and not superficial. She had motivation and meaning behind her dream. It made her a more authentic and likable character.
This book is full of tropes, but it is still a fun, lighthearted read. As this is contemporary, the characters and romance are a pretty large focus of the book. Twinkle is not involved in a love triangle, but rather a love quadrangle. First, there is Neil Roy quintessential popular boy that Twinkle has a crush on. Twinkle believes that if she dates him, then her status in high school will change and she will be better for it. Second, there is Sahil Roy his twin brother and total film review geek. Third, there is the mysterious 'N' who has been emailing her.
I wish that the secondary characters were developed more. At times I felt that they were very superficial and one-dimensioned. For example, Twinkle's best friend (or former best friend, it changes a lot) suddenly changed and became part of a mean-girls clique. It was very stereotypical and I wanted more from the author. I wanted her motivation and backstory, why did she like these friends? Why did they behave the way that they did? Some of those things were lightly touched upon by the second half of the story, but I still didn't feel totally satisfied by it.
That being said, I really enjoyed the plot and the characters. It was not a deep, philosophical book and it was not meant to be. If you just want to enjoy a light-hearted, heart-warming contemporary book - then this is the perfect book for you!

It was overall an alright book to me. I really like books with the format of the character or characters writing letters/emails to someone else, sharing memories. The book starting off ok, but I started liking it more towards the end. The age of the characters were around 16/17 (juniors in a highschool), but the way they the author wrote it, in my opinion, they sounded like they were either freshman in highschool with still middle school mentality (14/15) or freshman in college with highschool mentality (18).
From Twinkle, With Love was a really fun read. Twinkle is an aspiring filmmaker who finally gets a chance to make her own film when Sahil suggests that they do a remake of Dracula together for an upcoming film festival. Twinkle feels that this is her chance to make a meaningful impact in the film world and to show the world that young women of colour can participate and be important in a traditionally male-dominated field. Along the way, Twinkle encounters problems with her best friend, Maddie, who has started hanging out with new friends and excluding Twinkle from her new life. She also faces issues with her family, who she feels don't have enough time for her. And then there's Sahil. She has had a crush on his twin brother, Neil, for as long as she can remember, but when Sahil offers to make a movie with her, she finds herself wanting Sahil more than his brother. The only thing standing in her way is a secret admirer going by the letter N, who she suspects is her long-time crush and Sahil's brother, Neil. Told through a series of diary entries addressed to famous female filmmakers, Twinkle tells her story of family issues, feeling less-than among her peers (who she calls the silk-feathered hats people), and of falling in love for the first time.
I put off this book for a long time because I’m not a huge fan of contemporary teen romance, but I am so glad I read this book! Yes, it’s a triangle romance, but the author writes it in a way that it’s not really a love triangle and makes you want to read. More than that, the main character is a POC girl who learns about friendship, what’s really important in relationships, and how to be a strong, independent woman in today’s world. I’m actually thinking of reading a few of this authors other books now. Highly recommend!
Twinkle is a nice, if somewhat invisible, girl from a hard working American Indian family. Her dad is kind but always working, and her mom has sort of checked out emotionally. Her Dadi (her grandmother) is her main support at home. Which is a good thing, because her best friend Maddie has joined up with the popular, pretty girls and left Twinkle in the dust.
Meanwhile, Twinkle has a crush on a popular, out of reach boy in school. She starts getting secret admirer messages from someone with the same initial . . . could it actually be HIM? And, she's busy working on a flipped version of "Frankenstein" with the cool kid's twin brother, Sahil. What about the chemistry going on between them? High school is confusing and emotional. Can Twinkle hang on to who she really is with all these changes and challenges happening around her?
I absolutely loved this author's debut novel, "When Dimple Met Rishi". (Go find it, now. You will love it.) This second book, unrelated to the first, is equally impressive and fun. I can't wait tos ee what Sandhya Menon writes next!
