A good thriller with lots of creepy moments.
I've put it together half way through, but I liked the fact that it still let me guessing and my suspicions were not confirmed until the end.
A good read.

This was a really strong thriller! I didn't expect the twists at all, I was constantly kept guessing. I really enjoyed reading from a writer's perspective and the setting of Cornwall where my family is from. Can't wait to read more from this author.
I had seen Lucy Clarke’s previous novels on bookshelves, bestseller lists and as a pick on the now infamous “Richard and Judy Book Club” but had yet to read one myself so was pleased when the opportunity arose to see what all the fuss was about. I was not disappointed.
Author Elle, struggling for money and to meet her impending publisher’s deadline, has rented her newly remodelled house out whilst at a writer's retreat attempting to get over a case of writer's block. When she returns however, the atmosphere has changed. She doesn’t feel like shes alone. However - she is a novelist, she has a vivid imagination so is it paranoia and all just in her head?
I loved the creepiness of the plotline and how twisty and full of red herrings it was. It was deeply unsettling at times and using the concept of what happens after you let your house out as an AirBnB - how do you know that it's as safe as they say it is?... I’m not sure I’ll be using them in the near future until this book is out of my head at least! felt fresh and new as an idea. The story flows well and the atmosphere and environment is so vivid and feels real to the reader. You can really put yourself in Elle’s shoes.
4/5 - A great thriller, just creepy enough to keep you reading on.
Thank-you to NetGalley for providing me with an Advance Readers e-proof copy from publishers HarperCollins UK. All opinions are my own and are impartial and free from bias.

This book was good but i think it lacked excitement.. It is marked as a thriller, which gives it the mystery edge and starts off great! The creep factor of the home not feeling like your own anymore after you rent it out to someone else I can totally picture. To then find items damaged or out of place after that just makes it more creepy. But after that it got boring... She seemed paranoid and there were little things that didn't make sense.
The ending cleared up quite a bit, so stick with it. But it is not the ending I thought I was getting. There are loose ends.. like why was the moth in the cellar so important but yet not even relevant to the current timeframe of the story. Or the other odd little scenarios that seemed to point to her past but yet were also irrelevant... Those just seemed to make the story incomplete.
I do like that it ended with a book being delivered to her door with the description of the cover of the actual book I was reading (this one).. I think to make it even better, the dedication should have also matched but its just a minor detail.
I would recommend this to beginning readers for Thriller genre. This is a good one to get you into the genre and not scare you off with.
