I decided to read this book on a whim and ended up loving it! It doesn't have 5 stars because of some of the profanity. It is not a lot but I do feel like it some parts of conversations it was unnecessary. But I LOVE LOVE LOVE that this book included characters that were "unconventional" by typical romantic trope standards. Finally a black woman that is not a damsel in distress! She is self aware of who she is. She just needed a fresh start. I also loved that the male character was not nursing a broken heart but just in distress cause of basic life. This love felt more realistic. I also enjoyed their banter. Would definitely recommend!

Another fun/sexy/sweet cowboy romance featuring the third and final Pleasant man. I really enjoyed getting a better look at Jesse Pleasant and his relationship with Lily-Grace. I loved how they supported each other and moved from friends to more.

I also loved all the scenes with the whole Pleasant family. It just felt good to be part of the group again.

Definitely recommend this 3rd book in the Cowboys of California series.

Squee!

This book! It is funny, and touching, and hot, and so very sweet! It is my favorite book in this series thus far. Jesse is in my book bae hall of fame and Lily-Grace makes for an awesome heroine.

This book stands out to me the most in the Cowboys of California series! I absolutely loved how carefully the author paced the main couple's journey, loved the message about being loveable no matter what, loved that Jesse the MMC not only listened to but took on the advice from Lily-Grace the FMC and went to THERAPY. The poor man needed it, for himself and for the relationships he wanted to build with his family and Lily-Grace. This is a wonderful, masterful story, and I am so glad it is in the world!

(free review copy) This might be my favorite in the series!! I adored the previous books as well, but getting to revisit those characters here plus an almost no-angst romance is DELIGHTFUL. I wish we could have more more more of these books. My favorite works from Weatherspoon.

I loved Lily-Grace and Jesse’s romance🥹 Jesse is an absolute cinnamon roll of a love interest, who was so clearly down bad from the beginning for Lily-Grace. It is a bit of antagonists-to-lovers, with sex & swimming lessons sprinkled in! The way they run into each other again is absolutely hilarious — her dad is dating his grandma Miss Leona, and his anger gets the best of him.

I adored the representation of a Black man seeking out and trying his best with therapy! Go Jesse! He is disrupting behavior that doesn’t feel good or benefit him, and exponentially improves the relationships around him too. I was so proud of him. He was so logical and clinical at times too, but obviously his friendship with Lily-Grace inspires him to live a life with a bit more courage and excitement!

I also appreciated learning of Lily-Grace’s backstory with often being the only Black woman in the room when she worked with Silicon Valley tech executives. Her arc was just as intriguing to me, and I especially loved where her purpose ended up in the epilogue.

steam rating: 2/5

cw: stalking & inappropriate behavior from an ex-partner, past bdsm relationship is discussed, on-page sexual content, fraught family dynamics, a character’s alleged virginity is outed in a public setting, toxic Silicon Valley workplace environments are discussed

Overall okay but nothing to write home about. The family stuff always makes me tear up. We love seeing a man go to therapy and work through his issues.
