I was weirdly intrigued by this book. I am trying to get into more dark romance since I have read so much and this definitely was. I am aware that their relationship is unhealthy in many ways, but it worked. One thing that I didn't care for was the constant mention of the darkness. I get that it is what rives him and that it was technically explained, but I kind of wanted it more clear.

Dark but captivating.
Although not at all what I had expected, I couldn't put this book down. The story was enthralling, but I was unable to connect with the characters like I wanted to... that kinship was always just out of reach. That aside, I very much enjoyed the suspense and drama provided by this story. I would recommend this book to those who are looking for something dark and different.

Really fast read but the characters are fantastically developed. It switches between their viewpoints and you understand the shades of grey in each. Really good!

I don't even know what to say about this.

Gav and Kate are two very broken people but I don't know if that's a good enough reason to explain all that goes on in this book.

Gav has a Dexter vibe going on. "I only kill bad men." But is that a good excuse? Probably not but I still ate it up.

Kate, on the other hand, she's broken but also has serious Stockholm syndrome. What does it say about you if the only time you've felt alive is in the arms of a serial killer?

I give this 4 solid stars because it really made me cry. Being in Gav's head at the end.. it gutted me. That type of torment. It is unfathomable.

*Trigger Warning: mentions of suicide and attempted suicide*

MIXED FEELINGS

We have Kat, who really is TSTL. I mean she follows a strange man home and witnesses him torturing somebody. She gets caught, and despite her disgust, she is attracted to Gav. The fact that Gav was a serial killer was offputting. And his seeming lack of emotion. But once his past is revealed, I understand a little better. I liked the way Gav was possessive, and wanted to keep Kat. but I didn't like the way he treated her. I got a little frustrated with Kat because she kept fighting Gav, and at the same time pleaded for him to take her. I mean, fight or give in. Not both. And this was supposed to be an erotic novel, and to me it wasn't. There wasn't a lot of sex, and when there was, it wasn't descriptive. But it WAS dark, so it lived up to that. Overall a decent read. Well written.
