MIXED FEELINGS

We have Kat, who really is TSTL. I mean she follows a strange man home and witnesses him torturing somebody. She gets caught, and despite her disgust, she is attracted to Gav. The fact that Gav was a serial killer was offputting. And his seeming lack of emotion. But once his past is revealed, I understand a little better. I liked the way Gav was possessive, and wanted to keep Kat. but I didn't like the way he treated her. I got a little frustrated with Kat because she kept fighting Gav, and at the same time pleaded for him to take her. I mean, fight or give in. Not both. And this was supposed to be an erotic novel, and to me it wasn't. There wasn't a lot of sex, and when there was, it wasn't descriptive. But it WAS dark, so it lived up to that. Overall a decent read. Well written.

This wasn't as dark as I thought it would be. The characters were interesting, the plot had a quite hasty pace - not that I minded that - and overall I finished this book in one sit with no complaints. Quick, simple and overall satisfactory.

The killing of the lawyer in the beginning was the most interesting part of this entire book.

The rest was (in my opinion) cheesy and boring, I couldnt even get into the Sex scenes.  The narration was just fine. I only finished reading because I wanted to know what happened to the killer in the end and that ending was incredibly disappointing as well.
Maybe I'm just not into dubious consent?
Not worth the read imo.

I’m still not sure how I felt about this book

🌶🌶 - mostly for other acts and tension. I would say it’s a slow burn.

Gavriel reminded me a lot of Dexter. He lives a mostly normal life except he kills people sometimes, and he particularly seeks out “bad” people to kill. I wasn’t sure how I felt about Him. I didn’t want to see him caught but I found that I wasn’t as sympathetic toward him as I was toward Dexter. Typically with an antihero… we’re still supposed to want to see him win…. And I dunno that I felt that way.

I appreciated that Kat continues to try to get away and she doesn’t just give in. Otherwise I felt like the story was mostly about him. We learn a little about each of them, but the story is pretty short, and I finished felling unsatisfied.

DAMN. What a banger.

Gav could be such a fucker. But he’s the type of “hero” I like. Dark, tortured, fucked-up.

Honestly, I picked up this book because of Dexter. You know, Dexter Morgan serial killer. Except that I was hoping in this one he would actually fall in love with a non-homicidal woman and stick around.

description

In the beginning of the book neither Gav or Kat seemed all that promising. At times he did seem like a psychopath, at others it seemed forced. But as the book progressed, Gavriel began to behave more and more human, more vulnerable. There were some bits that were really, really touching and heartbreaking and at these moments I thought that the writer had done an amazing job at developing the characters. But I felt that only in the last 25% of the book did the characters really come alive. There was a lot of intense (self) reflection and inner turmoil taking place then, which I really enjoyed, because each of them was seen questioning their own feelings and emotions as well as those of the other. Given the premise of the book, these are not light questions.

But then there were also moments when I liked neither of them very much and wanted to put the book away. I have mixed feelings about this one but I was *curious* enough to finish it.

Not sure I'm going to give the second book a try, though.

Fascinating story which Aubrey weaves her magic through once again. Gav is seriously a complex guy and this story is not for the faint hearted but if this genre appeals this a top read in my list. The internal struggle that Kat has with her own feelings is well described and I found myself not questioning her feelings which I do find I do often in other dark romances.

I want to know more......

This story was different from the start. I like how this was not your typical love story. At first I was a little taken aback by the content. Once you get past it and see beyond it, its a new take on the average love story. I really like how this story makes you realize that you really can't help how you love.

Gav is not you typical romance book boyfriend, that is for sure. He seems to have it all, looks, money, and charm. Until you find out his secret. I really like how he is total different when it comes to Kat. He is the one that is taken aback by Kat and she doesn't even know it.

Kat is an everyday, boring girl that is trying to get through life. Until that fateful kiss in the elevator. Then she gets a whim and decides she does not want to be boring anymore. Man what she is for the shock of her life. I really like how they seemed to complement each other in the end.
