If you want to learn more about sex this is the one for you. My only critique is that she writes a little too flowery for my taste. Its a lot of handholding- not my favourite but the messages are perfect and worth the read.
Parts are worth a reread. Helpful for more than just sex and sexuality tbh

This year, I have been planning to read more non-fiction books and hopefully, with practice, I will write better reviews for them.
I went into this book not particularly caring about the improving one's sex life bit, just interested in the science of women's sexuality. And it's not particularly heavy on the nitty-gritty in my opinion but I can appreciate what is there. I came out of it with very interesting terms and tidbits that do the serve the purpose of making me feel a little more normal. It is cis-heteronormative, which is a bummer. It is also from a decade ago so I'm hoping there's a more recent book that can take a step further from here.
If you are interested in the science, this is not the book for you. This is more for therapy and putting what you read into practice. I'm not particularly interested in that, but maybe you'll like the positive messaging about accepting yourself and moving past shame. I actually quite liked the stories based on different women's sex lives. The metaphors and tone of voice are not for everybody, but it made it easy to digest for me. Definitely an interesting read for me. Will be looking for something similar but less self-help like, up-to-date, and involving LGBTQIA+ in their research now.

I listened to this as an audiobook and enjoyed it. As a parent and a reproductive cancer survivor, I felt really validated by a lot of what she talks about. Some of it was obvious on reflection, but it also helped me realize how much baggage I have in this element of my life - from my cancer trauma of course but even just from cultural messages I perceived when I was young.
My biggest complaint would be that it’s very repetitive and you could def get by reading the TLDR at the end of each chapter, but there is plenty of good advice throughout so I would def recommend to others!

I spent most of the year listening to this audiobook. It is chalked full of information, anecdotes, and science. I learned a lot and confirmed a lot of knowledge I knew. I recommend it to everyone, especially women.
