A modern day version of the Prodigal Son. This was an enjoyable read that really makes you think about how it is never too late to right a wrong. In the beginning of the story I really hated how Luke was acting and annoyed on how heartless he was being. It really makes you see how easily it can be to fall in with the wrong crowd and be manipulated by people. I was pleased with the way the story ended.

Couldn't stop reading it.

It's so nice to read a happy ending every once in awhile!!

This is basically the prodigal son in modern terms. I was disappointed, as I've liked many of his books. But I just could not sympathize with the main character, and that is where it fell short.

This wasn't my favorite Evans book. The beginning even has a warning that you aren't going to like the main character, but I grew so frustrated with his actions to the point that it grew unbelievable. I don't think any person who has been raised in a successful business environment would make that many terrible choices - why would you be so quick to spend such large amounts of money when you grew up in a hardworking home, why would you trust a friend who hasn't done anything to deserve that trust, and why wouldn't you keep track of your spending? I feel like he took it too far towards homelessness to apply to the parable, and then quickly pulled him out of that situation through very lucky instances. All that aside, the story did have me gripped from the start, and I read it in one night, so it really wasn't that bad.

A quick book that was predictable. I didn’t mind though. Not super Christmasy but a good book to read during the holidays.

Meh. I wanted to read a cute quick story for the holidays and while this was certainly meant to be cute and heartfelt, it felt like an overlong retelling of a Bible story. I just didn’t dig it - felt unoriginal and I didn’t really care about the characters at all.

RPE does it again and again. I could not put down this retelling of the Prodigal Son. Such a beautiful story. It got dark quickly, and stayed that way for quite a bit. I was enthralled with the depiction of Luke having it and and then losing it all. The angels in the story were so well written.
