I loved this book. Being a teenager is hard and this book brought me back to my teenage years. I loved Bianca and I identified a lot with her. She is witty, intelligent and sarcastic. All the characters were great. The book is not shallow and deals with a lot of issues. My only problem with it was that like so often in YA literature we have the bad boy and the wallflower. It works for this book but I really would love to see something else than the obligatory bad boy.

#46 - 2019 RC
Genre: Young Adult Contemporary

Such a more complex teen character study than the movie might let on (very loosely based, essentially on title alone). Hits on meaningful concepts--sexuality, slut-shaming, friendship, self-esteem, alcoholism, divorce--with accessible, credible characters and environment created by its then very young teenage author. The dialogue was a bit clunky and could've used some fine-tuned editing to narrow down on some of the "like, omigosh" teen cliches and over dramatization, but it's authentic read for what it is. Appreciated the empowered, honest and awkward female protagonist. A good discussion book for teens and adults alike.

NEW FAVOURITE I LOVED THIS SO, SO, SO MUCH!

Unfortunately I had no connection to the story, especially the main character.

While I'll admit this was cute in some parts and I do like the message in the end.. I just don't love this book. A good read though, shorter than I thought it would be.

I wanted to read this since he movie was fixing to come out. I got through it pretty fast but I didn't find it to be the best book. I didn't like any of the characters at all. I will say after seeing the movie that I enjoyed the movie way more then the book.

By far the most adorable book I have ever read!!! ☺️

Okay, this book is so incredibly cute. It's hard not to love it. I genuinely enjoyed every second of reading this, and I haven't felt that way about a book in a while.
