I love this book! The characters and high school experience are believable. As a DUFF myself, though lacking in the boy drama, I get Bianca's inner monologue. The self conscious thoughts, not caring who thinks of what you look like etc but secretly do at the same time. This book is so good because it does speak to a positive mind set in the end of yes, even if you think youre the "DUFF" technically everyone is the DUFF to everyone else because every person is different. Weight, age, looks, height etc. In the end what matters is what makes you happy as a person. Plus, Wesley is kind of awesome in the book too!
Fun, fast, fluff. While there isn't explicit descriptions, Bianca has a lot of sex in this book. I noticed, I guess, because it's been a while since I read a YA book that centered around sex. I don't think it's smutty really, I think it's nicely done actually. I mean, it's kind of steamy... but with a dab of substance. Says the author was 18 when she wrote this. Well, I'm impressed!
I went into this book expecting to constantly be rolling my eyes or upset with the language used. However, I was shocked to find myself very invested in the characters and wanting to read more. It's a typical YA novel, but it was enjoyable and intriguing.
Just Damn... This book came unexpectedly. When I started reading it I thought it was going to be like a stupid high schoolish lose story but the book just proved me wrong. Halfway the book I realized how much I loved it, not just because of the amazing story but because I totally can relate with Bianca Piper (and I'm sure almost all of us did). Totally recommend it and I hope the movie is as good as the book(*crossing fingers*).
Update: So I just watch the movie and if you compare it to the book it really sucked allot and it didn't make justice to the book at all it just was wrong. Now if you watch the movie and don't compare it to the book and put it like something apart than it is actually entertaining but is the typical high school stylish movie so, it was just good because of the entertainment and the funny parts.

Surprised by the teen hate sex, and the amount of it. Lots. But kudos because it was very safe.
This book does have a moral to it. Gets a little preachy in fact. I can sum it up in 2 words: Girl Power. Honestly, it's a great moral, but the method is heavy-handed, and it's quite annoying how it's a dude who first makes the point to the protagonist and opens her eyes to the unfairness of slut shaming.
And it's a little embarrassing how Emily Bronte gets dragged into it because Emily, as the reclusive young author who wrote Wuthering Heights and died shortly afterwards . . . Ms. Bronte would look at these characters and think oh hell no. Yes, Miss Emily wrote about selfish, spoiled characters, but her genius is unparalleled. (But come to think of it, maybe she would become insanely jealous of the author of this book because wtf hate-fucking is a "thing"? Why didn't I think of this? This would have made Cathy and Heathcliff's lives a bazillion times better)
And now the ghost of Emily is sneezing in my face because she is sick of this nonsense.

I flew through this book. I read it in two days. Probably just over 24 hours. It was so fun and addicting but also had a really good message. I really enjoyed this book. Bianca was the perfect main character with a sense of humor and sarcasm but also real and flawed. She was fun to read about and I'm super glad I picked this up. Now I want to watch the movie, although I'm pretty sure it's very different from what I've heard so far.
I wanted to hate this book. I really did. Designated, ugly, fat friend. Really? But because it has been turned into a movie, and I love Robbie Amell, here I am. The first half was not the greatest. It was exactly as expected, a typical teen romance book. Not great. The second half was much better. Yes, it still had the teen romance love triangle, but it also had a message. That everyone on this planet is struggling with something. No one is perfect. And that stuck with me. That made it more than just a teenage romance book to me.
