Emma Mills

After Claudia accidentally eavesdrops on the breakup of her school's it-couple, Paige and Iris, she finds herself in hot water with the difficult Iris. After ruining an assignment when partnered together, Claudia and Iris are thrown against their will into the school production of A Midsummer Night's Dream. The duo are about to have an eye-opening senior year.

"He's my small son," Iris says, and even though the words coming from her lips are completely ridiculous, her expression is 100 percent serious. "I want him to be happy, and healthy, and to be with people he cares about, and do things he loves. I want him to know how much he's appreciated and how much he's changed people's lives by... just being who he is. And by helping us be who we are."

Emma Mills understands what it's like to be a fangirl! I'm pretty sure those exact words have come out of my mouth when explaining what the members of band 5 Seconds of Summer mean to me. Between that and what Iris' room looked like (I also had decked out rooms all through high school and college), Iris and I are one.

Claudia and Iris' friendship is so cute; Mills does a wonderful job at writing them going from 'enemies' to 'friends' very naturally. Even the way Gideon becomes a part of Claudia's life more and more is also adorable and how he himself is just the equivalent of sunshine. I can't stop picturing him playing Battle Quest for the first time.

Mills had a very light-hearted pace to this novel, the book didn't take itself too seriously. Sure it had the basic teen love drama of a contemporary YA novel, but in the end, I closed the novel with a happy feeling inside. Sometimes that's all you need from a book - a happy feeling. I will be checking out her other books as soon as possible.
funny lighthearted medium-paced

I really appreciate Emma Mills writing a story featuring a romance with George Weasley.

*I mean Gideon has a best friend whom he calls his twin, and that best friend one time near died, and now Gideon is all worried about him. And, well, all Harry Potter fans know that Fred and George were named after their uncles, Fabian and Gideon Prewitt, Molly's brothers. Emma didn't even try to be subtle about it, she spelled it out that she did name her character after a Harry Potter character in one scene.*

She's captured George Weasley's essence - he is the softer twin, but still very funny, ultra-popular. Super dreamy.

This was honestly adorable! I need a Gideon in my life ;D I also really liked the friendships and could relate SO MUCH to the main character!! I'm definitely going to check out some more Emma Mills books :D

This is by far my favorite Emma Mills books up until this book First and then was my favorite! The characters were perfect and I loved Gideon! He was so sweet and the cast of characters were so lovable!

4.5 stars

This is the first book I have finished in forever, it pulled me a bit out of my slump.

So easy to read and the characters were lovable. Kind of sad it's over.

4.5⭐️
I loved almost everything about this book! The characters, the Shakespeare, the boy band and video game obsessions.

The writing was great and the plot kept me interested from page 1!

Only downside is the last 50 pages or so were a bit of a mess with some characters acting OOC.

Would recommend!

I freaking loved this Book! I honestly wish it had gone on longer so I continue to follow Claudia, Gideon, Iris and Noah. Everyone should have friends like them. Claudia and Iris start out rocky after Claudia overhears Iris Break up with her girlfriend Paige. Then the two are thrown together against their wills and an unexpected friendship develops and the prickly Iris gains confidence in Claudia's company. Gideon who at first glance seems like the class clown is actually very deep and sensitive as well as an amazing friend.

I loved everything about this book - except Claudia’s self destructing behavior! I understand it’s plot points and for growth of the character, but after a while it got annoying.

Adorable.
