One of the best books I've read in a while. I was so happy while reading this book, and when I finished I just had to sit there and hug it for a while. (I know, it's weird but it just gave me all the feels y'all)

I love the trope where a mean girl and a less popular introvert become best friends (it was the only good thing about that Netflix movie Sierra Burgess is a Loser). There were also so many different tropes and plot things I loved in this book too like video games, boy bands, strong sibling bonds, goofy nice guy love interest, etc. Just so much to love in such a little book.

Alright...I loved this book, but I am going to preface it by saying that it could be the white-girl version of The Way You Make Me Feel (although I guess technically this one came first...I just happened to finish it second). It was a little bit weird because I read both of them at the same time, and there were legit times where I confused something from one book with something from the other. Don't get me wrong, they were both unique and wonderful in their own ways...but the basic plot was remarkably similar, and I thought it was an insane coincidence that I happened to start reading both of them on the same day.

That being said--adorable. It's hard to get into my thoughts on the book without spoiling stuff, but it was pretty much just sweet from start to finish. Watching old relationships evolve and new relationships grow, seeing friendships between people who had known each other for all or most of their lives...wonderful. The fact that Claudia plays an MMORP game with her best friend, older brother, older sister, and brother-in-law as a way for them to all "spend time" together even though they may not actually be together? LOVE. Claudia's humor was the perfect level of sarcastic, and Gideon Prewitt was so goofy and hilarious that there were moments in the book that had me literally laughing out loud. This book was easy to get lost in, I had a hard time putting it down.

I truly feel like fifteen-year-old me wrote this book. I loved everything about it!! So cute! I'm definitely going to read other books by Mills.

emma mills does it again!

December's Owlcrate book which I buddy read with my bestie @borenbooks.
🎭
This book had me in tears for a good 9 chapters. I fell in love with the characters and the story. Mills brought them to life with her amazing writing, my first book of hers and I love it. I dont want to say much because I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't read it.
🎭
While at a party Claudia over hears a conversation and a break up is involved. When she's found Iris already doesn't like her. Then at school she's pared up with Iris for a project and of course it doesn't go well. For extra credit they are told to try out for the schools play of A Midsummers Nights Dream. And that's where Claudias life begins to change.
We follow Claudia through a difficult friendship, a crush, family matter, and an argument between best friends. From an awkward girl that feels she's just regular to finding her confidence and feeling good about herself. Foolish Hearts will make you laugh and cry, the chapters are short makes for a fun and quick read.

This might be my favourite book of the year...it was actually just THAT AMAZING!

The only other thing I have to say is that there needs to be an alternate version where Gideon and Noah are in love because that relationship was just TOO FREAKING PERFECT!

4,5/5

This book reminded me a lot of Radio Silence !! The amazing friendships, family relationships, the love story to the side, queer characters (and it being no big deal/coming out story) the exploration of fandom. Loved it !! Definitely want to read more Emma Mills

Plot or Character Driven: Character

overall, a cute story. i liked the friendship groups and family relationships between the mc and her sister & brother, as well as the parents. i was so sad for Claudia when everything goes down for her (e.g. zoe&alex, iris, and homecoming w/ gideon). but the friendship portrayed in the last few chapters were so precious. and gideon was just a lover boy. no conspiracy whatsoever.

the only issue i had was that i was tricked by the progress bar on kindle. the book ended at the 91%. so i didn't realize that i was reading the final chapter until i got to the acknowledgement.

also, this book is a lot like the combination of the library of lost things (friendships & love interest & mc pov & Shakespeare) + the start of you and me (mc pov & family & friendship & literature class). but the writing in this book is more beautifully done, compared to the others.
