That's it. We have found a new favorite YA contemporary author. Consider myself a fan. I will read each and every one of her books now, thank you.

I can't exactly pinpoint what is that made me enjoy this book a tiny bit more than [b: This Adventure Ends|27779275|This Adventure Ends|Emma Mills|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1455111092l/27779275._SX50_.jpg|46885088], as this one is getting the full five stars.
Maybe it was our protagonist Claudia. I had no idea I was going to end up completely falling for her and her personality. She was incredibly kind and nice; she has the biggest heart in the world. I adored how she hates confrontation and tries to avoid it but that doesn't mean she lets people step over her, she can hold her own and she will challenge everyone when she sees injustices. I loved her.
Maybe is the fact that the friend group in here stole my heart. Especially Iris. OMG I adored her. She was such a grumpy girl but with such a huge heart I was mesmerized, AND SHE LIKED GIRLS (maybe I just have a bit of a crush on her, whatever). Their unlikely friendship was one of my favorite parts to read about. How they slowly bonded and opened up to each other. Just thinking about them is making me so happy.
The friendship with her childhood best friend also felt very real. With their struggles and fights, it felt like one of my oldest friendships. I adored how they balanced each other out but also how much they love each other, how they know exactly how to calm and support the other one when they need it.
Maybe it was the romance? since it was also another favorite thing to read (all of the subplots were my favorite thing to read, who am I kidding?). Gideon was such a kind goofy guy, agh I love him. I loved the fact that he was such a good friend, so supportive and kind to everyone. He didn't give a damn about what people thought about him for being a bit strange, and I love how straightforward, compassionate and considerate he was.
Maybe it was the family dynamics? The relationships between the siblings were a joy to read about and I loved the fact that Claudia was the youngest out of the three, I don't usually come across this rep in books.
Maybe it was the combination of all of this things, along with the awesome play, the representation of all of the side characters (even those not mentioned above), how they were all developed and held much more depth than what initially meets the eye. Maybe it was how emotional I felt while reading and at the end, how this story resonated with me.
Overall
I think it's fair to say that this is now one of my new favorite books. I can't wait to reread and refeel all of the things I'm feeling right now.

Stopped reading at page 135. I was just really bored with it. I was hoping for more Midsummer aesthetics but it was more like a CW tween drama. Not a book for me.
I️ blew through this book in under 24 hours.
It was sweet and simple, and never stagnant enough for me to want to put it down. The characters are easy to like and relate to. Mills has a talent for creating dialogue and situations that seem realistic and not an idolized version of the truth.
Just a cute simple read with nothing big at stake. (No possible destruction of the universe).

I'm in awe of Emma Mills' ability to write relationships between people. There's so many nuances and it feels so real. The insecurities, the fights, the laughter.... This book handles boy band culture better than any other I've read, it's not in any way judgmental or toxic, just precious. I even enjoyed the gaming parts, the banter was the best

This was a fun young adult contemporary book! It's been a while since I last laughed out loud over a contemporary book that is just nothing but lighthearted banter, heartwarming friendship connections.
I went into this not really knowing anything about the book. Decided to listen to the audiobook as a palate cleanser before I proceed with more fantasy reads.
I enjoyed the humorous interactions between the characters. And while the main hetero romance didn't click for me, I must say the strength of this book is in it how it captured the beauty of friendships.
The bits and pieces of a Midsummer Night's Dream interspersed in the whole narrative was also fun to read. It brought me to memory lane, as we also did the play back in senior year of high school.

3.5/5, rounded up. Cozy, low stakes, extremely charming contemporary YA. Really like that the teenagers in this book actually had their own hobbies and interests.
