Emma Mills...you’ve done it again. I feel so happy and squishy.

4.5⭐️ This book might become a comfort read for me! This was mainly a ya fiction book with a subplot of romance which I ended up really enjoying. I love Gideon SO much!! He is the definition of golden retriever boy and his energy was so fun and made the book so good.

Okay. But. How does Mills get SO LUCK WITH HOW BEAUTIFUL HER DAMN COVERS ARE?!

Also, love her books, can't wait for more!

Update:

It’s been a while since I’ve been able to stay up past my (self-imposed) bedtime to read. But I couldn’t put this down. It also helps that I’m officially on vacation and can do what I want because I’m a #adult.

This was wonderful. I love her books and writing and had been greatly anticipating this novel.

I have to say, Iris totally reminded me of Paris from Gilmore Girls. Just sayin’.

I just loved it.

THIS is how you write YA!

Everyone else - step aside and bow to Emma Mills, you losers!

I mean, I CRIED ffs.

Off to find a way to teleport myself into this book

4.5

I absolutely adored this book! I mean, I adore everything Emma Mills writes, but still. There is something so comforting about reading one of her books. To read strong friendships that will always be there. To watch a character grow and develop into the person they are meant to be, a person who loves them self. And most importantly, for a swoon worthy relationship that isn’t the plot to the story, that takes a backseat to the vibrant characters. As someone who has been deeply effected by fandom, this book was so close to my heart. To love a band is something that is often trivialized, and a lot of people don’t understand the way you feel or make fun of it. I have never read someone write so successfully and kindly on what it is like to love a band with your whole heart. I want to thank Emma Mills for that. For making it real, and allowing me to see myself in a positive light, unlike so many forms of media that have torn down fandom and the people who need it.

2nd time reading it. Sigh...so great. I love this book! ❤️

OMG THIS BOOK. Emma Mills is my new instant-buy authors and I can’t wait to devour every one of her books, but I am genuinely disappointed this one is over. I loved it so much.

It’s rare that I rate a book five stars, but I’m trying to get better at it. While this book isn’t ground breaking, it filled my heart with little flutters as I fell in love with the characters. Sometimes you don’t need to read the biggest classic to just enjoy a book. Sometimes you just want to be wrapped up in fluffy friendships and love and that’s exactly what this book did.

very the edge of seventeen-core. claudia so relatable and flawed--10/10 main character. romance slapped. friendships also slapped, and i appreciated how obsessing over boybands wasn't treated with disdain. a bit slow but never quite boring.

4.5 stars

I read this a month ago, and I simply do not remember much. It's not that this book wasn't memorable, I just... can't remember what I wanted to SAY about it.

Oh well, I'll give it a try.

This was such a fun book! I really enjoyed it, and like, I binged it in a day. So that must say something.

SHORT LIST OF THINGS TO LOVE

- Sweet romances! The main romance was fun and sweet, plus the side romance was adorable, and honestly I just shipped them both so much!

- Great friendships! Claudia and Iris had such a beautiful friendship, and I loved it! And Gideon and what's his face had the most pure, sweet friendship ever.

- Complicated, messy, but overall loving family relationships! Claudia's family was messy. There were fights and tough times. But it was also such a kind, caring family, and it was wonderful.

- Just great characters in general! In case you couldn't tell, I adored these characters! Claudia was a good MC, Iris was fantastic, and Gideon was wonderful! As was everyone else whose names I can't remember!

- Theatre! I have a soft spot for theatre books, and as much as I have exactly zero interest in the costume design aspect of it, I adored the theatre-yness of it! Just theatre vibes. So many theatre vibes.

- I love that the characters have interests. Not necessarily things that will help them in life, or be a career, just things they enjoy doing. Whether it's obsessively failing over a band, or spending hours playing video games. It makes them very real.

- The whole thing is just so FUN!

A VERY, VERY SHORT LIST OF THINGS I DISLIKED

- I feel like it was a *little bit* all over the place? I think that was this book? I definitely felt it with the author's other book, and if I recall correctly, this one was just the tiniest bit all over the place too.

Ummm... yeah. No other memorable dislikes. This book was SO FUN, and I would HIGHLY recommend it!
