A good solid read 0r really listen. The 500 page book length really flew by. It is a complex story, that unfolds bit by bit.

This book was fantastic. I felt so sorry for Cal and Donna. I had no idea where this book was headed and was completely shocked by the ending. A must read!

A good enough thriller to keep reading, and each chapter ended with a twist and cliffhanger, but the tension seemed to fizzle out towards the end. The end felt rushed and was not completely explained. However it started off well and is worth a read as long as you do not have high expectations about the end.

Excellent mystery in the hard-boiled detective/former police officier genre. It contains crisp, scintillating dialogue and an inpredicatable, fast-paced plot.

Cal Weaver is in his car on a rainy night when a young girl taps on his window, asking for a ride home. He is about to ignore her when he realizes that she is one of his son’s classmates. He isn’t prepared for what is about to happen next, however. She asks him to pull into a nearby restaurant so she can throw up, sick from too much underage drinking. When she comes back, however, Cal realizes that it isn’t her, but a girl that has switched places with her. Now he has gone from a guy who was trying to get a girl home safely to a suspect in the case of a missing girl.

Not bad. Cal Weaver is obsessed with finding the person who sold his son ecstasy which led to his death. He stumbles upon a missing girl and a man held prisoner in his own home and is not dead. Oh and the police are crooked. The mayor is not a choir boy either. A lot going on in this book. Certainly tragic but entertaining.

Great pacing and a solid, believable plot. Plenty of twists, even at the end, which I love. This was my first Linwood Barclay read and I'm looking forward to reading more from him. You'll like his style if you enjoy authors like Harlan Coben.
