An entertaining window into the history of sex. While the framing the author uses is consistent, it feels very distracting and awkward sometimes. That being said, I learned a few things along the way and, if you’re interested in the subject, this would be worth looking into!
I enjoyed the information in this book. I have followed the author on social media for a while and the book comes across with her unique way of presenting things. The stories and info provided are great and fascinating. The way in which it is set out is a dinner party and I personally did not vibe with that part of it. Worthy read though and a huge congratulations to Esmé Louise James on finishing her book.

I was hopeful for this book, and I overall enjoyed the premise and the end-result. I had a few issues with it that were related to the writing style and tone (like the author's constant "so random!!!" quips and jokes) that set it apart from other non-fiction "micro-histories" I have been enjoying recently. Overall - this felt like a compilation of "fun and wacky history facts!!" rather than a book.

This was funny and informative, and I didn't mind the dinner party framing as she's trying to make this topic less taboo. I followed the author on tiktok long before I found this book, so I'm used to her bubbly, dramatic personality and enjoyed her reading her own audio book. I can see how it would be annoying if you aren't already familiar with her though. There are many funny stories about familiar historical figures, which was my favorite part.
