There was dinner party setting used throughout the book, the historical figures talk about as guest around a 5course dinner. This did not work, it made the book feel weird, read very clunky and awkward. It was weird bend of funny history to then taking these figures from history into a fictional setting and interacting, not need needed in non fiction books.
The book would read much better, be more engaging, interesting without those weird breakups and interludes. If the author felt necessary to break up chapters and bridge different historical periods there are much better ways than making an awkward dinner party.
There was one section where the author added in her own section. it was very unnecessary to add in personal experience and discovery into a book focused history. As a reader I hated that, I don’t mind andidotes here and there but reading the authors self discovery into bdsm with her friend was not something I wanted to read or should be added in this book even if the topics do align.
If the author felt it necessary to add a blend of personal experience and history needs to be added in from the start, rather than placing her self between historical figures and a one off chapter.
Keep to Genre, or make it an obvious mix from the start. In this case I think it should have just stuck to the kinky history and humour, take out the dinner party, and authors chapter. It would have made it a smother, more interesting and fun read.
Beside that as an Australian I enjoyed that some of the stats where Australian based, most other books we are left out of.

Incredibly interesting. Highlights have sex influences everything about our lives. The dinner party metaphor felt clunky at the start, but I loved it by the end. Has made me feel more open. Full of questions and there are conversations to be had.

I loved the concept of this book, and i loved the content. I couldn't vibe with the dinner party setting. It made it really hard for me to engage, and I found myself reading it like it was a chore go do before getting to something else.

The content of this book was interesting and important. And that was the only thing that kept me reading. The "Dinner Party" framing device was tiresome from the beginning and most of the humour wasn't my style. I also found the audio book particularly difficult to listen to. I liked the book. I liked the stories. I didn't like the writing.
