Fantastic, amazing, fabulous. By about a 3rd of the way through I could already call this one of the best books I've ever read. The audiobook is seriously perfect. The narrator's accent and deadpan delivery of some hilarious lines made it all the more funny and engaging. The main character is sooo detailed, so well researched, and the narrators voice so matches reality, it really felt (and still feels) like this was a memoir written and performed by a real person. I was born in 1987, same as the main character, and the references and pop-culture are so spot-on throughout his life. Wikipedia informs me that the author had a daughter born in 1987 as well, which makes me wonder if she provided any guidance. From the fruit snacks du jour of the late 90s, to the music of homecoming dances in the early 2000s, its all perfect.

I am someone who works with people suffering from opioid addiction and this book is one of the most accurate and sensitive portrayals of the problem I've encountered. I think it is the only piece of media I've ever read that actually talks about effective treatment (suboxone) in a non-stigmatizing way.

Probably the best book I’ve read this year. The audio version is amazing.
