A fun cozy mystery, read more like a movie script, than a novel though, and well … it’s now a movie.

the dynamics of the thursday murder club is so cute, i hope i find a group of people like that whenever i reach their age 💞🥹

i’m not sure whether i liked the multiple murder mysteries. certainly it made the story more alive and were connected to the land, but it was just too much for me; particularly, where everything gets revealed. i ended up confused for a second on who committed what crime 😅 my heart did break a little at the mentioned suicides committed by the elderly folks 🥺

still, i look forward to the movie coming out on netflix soon!!!

The writing style of this book was really up my alley. I enjoyed the the premise of the book and especially how most of the characters were elderly. Not only were they elderly, but they used others assumptions of themselves to their advantage. I thought that the ending was
very interesting and I thought it was a good choice to not have all three murders committed by the same person. Learning that Bogdan killed Tony and John y was really cool l and pulled the rug from under me in the best way. Also, I was so happy when Chris and Donna didn't get together. It could have been very easy to do this and it completely subverted the trope.

Very excited to see Cyprus represented! Although, I think it could have been looked at my a Cypriot before hand because there were some things said that felt very inaccurate.

The Thursday Murder Club is the first murder/crime mystery book that I have ever read to completion, and I have attempted many times in the past. This one is different.

Osman takes his time in the opening chapters introducing us to the cast of characters: their personalities, their past and current lifestyles, their relationships with each other, and their talents. We're also introduced to the retirement community and environs as it is a sort of character as well. The reader is more than a few chapters in when a murder occurs, but sticking with the story is worth it. It is a nice change from the typical, formulaic crime novel.

The rest of the book moves on at a faster pace continuing to introduce new characters as the investigation moves forward and becomes more complicated.

This whodunnit explores the themes of loss, grief, growing older, friendship, relationships, forgiveness, parent- child estrangement, letting go and moving on.

I highly recommend for literary fiction readers who want to try a whodunnit but still want a book with deep character development.

I started this book a few days ago after seeing the teaser trailer for the Netflix adaptation.
I’ve never read a murder mystery before and I think honestly this is a great starting point for anyone to get into the genre. The murder isn’t graphic or too much.
The characters are so lovely and funny and important. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series and I’ve already ordered the sequel

This was an enjoyable story. Every time I thought I had the killer figured out, something quickly happened to prove me wrong. It was engaging and I’ll likely read more books in this series.
