This book was pretty great. I loved Lainey's wit and the chemistry between her and Brogan. As an avid office romance reader, I've got to say, this was one of the great ones.
This was a very nice, light and fluffy read. I loved Lainey because she is so real. I could really identify with her clutzy side. Brogan was dreamy if a bit of a douche, come on dude, fact check before reacting. can't wait to read the second book from this series.
This was absolute trash. The two supposed main characters barely interact until halfway through the book. And their brief interactions did exactly ZERO to make me feel the heat.
Fun read!
This book and fun and funny. The author created characters that were likable and easy to get to know. Loved the chemistry of the couple and their interactions. That they built a foundation of friendship that grew into more really appealed to me. And gotta love Bruce! The twist and true villains were a shock to me. Honestly I thought it was someone else the whole time. Great job and great read.

3.5 stars
I loved this book ! it's funny, sarcastic, and so honest !
only downside : you only get teased with the beginning of steamy sex scenes and never get what you hoped for. hot kisses is as far as it gets.

This was delicious. Really funny and intense romance.
There are no sex scenes as such so I don't feel like it dispels the intensity of the passion between them. I mean don't get me wrong they act on the chemistry, but you don't 'read' it. Its more something you're told is happened.
I listened to this on scribd as an audiobook. One thing I do want to mention is with audiobooks it CAN cause a problem with how the book is portrayed through no fault of really either the author or narrator. I wasn't that keen on the narrator, her voice made Lainey pretty irritating and almost immature. I wasn't finding her funny or brilliant. And I found her room-mate (ok minor character really) really quite irritating. I don't think Lainey was awful and I liked Brogan. They were nice together and you could feel they were attracted to each other straight away. I loved how Brogan also tried his best to not want her but fell under her spell quick and easy.

Jennifer Blackwell's The Rule Book, published in 2016, is a work romance set in Seattle and focuses on a young woman in her first serious job as a public relations/marketing associate. The company Lainey joins manages the online social accounts of various celebrities and is run by the brilliant, young CEO Brogan Starr. As second assistant to the CEO, Lainey is mostly a gopher, but she manages one media account despite the dislike of Brogan’s first assistant who’d like to see her gone. Brogan is a good boss but he also has a ton of rules in the employee handbook, which is referenced in the book’s title. These rules help Brogan to not only run the company but keep people at a distance. Lainey, however, is getting under his skin and can’t keep herself from pushing back a bit. Both Brogan and Lainey have family issues which make them reluctant to get involved, but despite themselves they do begin a flirtation that becomes serious, leading to equally serious consequences for their work life.
I actually expected this story to have more sexual content and was glad it didn’t. To me, it was much more believable for things to go a bit more slowly and build rather than instantly jumping into bed. It’s refreshing in comparison to some other books I’ve read. Also it wasn’t explicit but it was still sexy. Books that include every sexual detail for no good reason other than to titillate were getting kind of boring for me. I’d much rather have that type of detail when it serves the plot. So, hurrah for Ms. Blackwell! The Rule Book had a nice amount of humor as you might expect but also some pretty serious notes, as Lainey’s mother is fighting an illness through much of it (which was a believable reason for her not to risk her job). I also kind of guessed who was the villain of the piece, although I was surprised it wasn’t the obvious person. In fact, there were multiple villains. Finally, I thought the story ended on a very romantic note.
All in all, an enjoyable, quick read. I’d give it a “B” and will look forward to other books by Ms. Blackwell.

This book was not what I expected. I thought I was going to get some smut with my office romance. That didn't happen :/
However, this was a fun read and the author does a good job of telling this story. The only problem I had was the lacking sex scenes and how the story moved kind of slow.
Lainey is a sweet girl dealing with her mother being sick. She takes a job to help her mother pay for medical bills. by taking this job she has to move away from her mother to a new city. She meets her boss and falls in lust with him.
From here on out she trying to not put her foot in her mouth and not get caught checking him out.
Brogan his hot in his own way. He has tattoos and a Smart mind. I could take him or leave him. He doesn't stand out to much to me.
The couple together had some heat between them but I didn't feel that spark. I think some of it was I wanted some hot and sexy sex scenes. It took a long time before you see the two dating but that doesn't even last long.
