This book had so many (actually) laugh out loud moments. Lainey is so awkward and approachable, and I loved that about the character
The Rule Book begins when Lainey Taylor gets a new job. She's the second assistant to the boss, who she is hearing some really horrible things about. And it doesn't help that the employee "rule book" is almost a complete joke. She can't believe how many rules it has, and how ridiculous some of them are. But when she accidentally mistakes her boss for a coworker things start of to a rough start for her.
But she and the boss can't seem to stay away from each other. It's something neither of them were looking for, but it's also something neither one is prepared to lose, or is it?
This was a hilarious story about a boss who only follows the rules, and a young woman who is bound and determined to break them.
I thought this one was really really good! I adored the relationship between the hero and the heroine. And I loved how it didn't just center on them, but it brought in a lot of other problems going on as well.
It was truly a very good read, and I look forward to more in this series.

Just your average new adult book. Nothing impressive nor extraordinary about it—except for the lack of graphic sex scenes. That is, indeed, new. But not necessarily good. Why, you may ask? The book led to steamy scenes, but never really delivered. So if you are looking for a hot romance story, I wouldn't recommend it.
This book was not what I expected. I thought I was going to get some smut with my office romance. That didn't happen :/
However, this was a fun read and the author does a good job of telling this story. The only problem I had was the lacking sex scenes and how the story moved kind of slow.
Lainey is a sweet girl dealing with her mother being sick. She takes a job to help her mother pay for medical bills. by taking this job she has to move away from her mother to a new city. She meets her boss and falls in lust with him.
From here on out she trying to not put her foot in her mouth and not get caught checking him out.
Brogan his hot in his own way. He has tattoos and a Smart mind. I could take him or leave him. He doesn't stand out to much to me.
The couple together had some heat between them but I didn't feel that spark. I think some of it was I wanted some hot and sexy sex scenes. It took a long time before you see the two dating but that doesn't even last long.

Fun read!
This book and fun and funny. The author created characters that were likable and easy to get to know. Loved the chemistry of the couple and their interactions. That they built a foundation of friendship that grew into more really appealed to me. And gotta love Bruce! The twist and true villains were a shock to me. Honestly I thought it was someone else the whole time. Great job and great read.

Rule #1: Read more of Blackwood's books. This novel was short, sweet and fantastic.

People, look at that blurb!!! Isn’t it one of the most appealing blurbs ever?! I love it! Lists and rules are such an important part of this book, that it’s not only fitting that the blurb takes this format, but it just begs to be read.
I really enjoyed this one, because from the get go, this book is hilariously written. The book is told in Lainey’s POV, and she’s just hilarious! Her use of pop references, inner dialogues and breaking of the fourth wall, is super well done. Her rants are to die for! I absolutely loved the writing, it was enjoyable on itself.
This is such a cute story of office romance. Lainey is a great female protagonist, who knows her worth and is not afraid to fight for what she thinks she deserves. Also, the things that come out of her mouth? Amazing! Because the book is only told from Lainey’s POV, we only know how Brogan Starr is from her perspective, but it’s enough to swoon more than a few times! Brogan, and MIT graduate, built his own company from scratch, and believes that the only way to succeed is by following a strict set of rules… a lot of them. This all comes crumbling down when he falls for his assistant, obviously!
The conflicts in this book are at the same time kind of expected and heartbreaking, because mixing professional and personal lives is never easy… but I really liked how they came about, and how they were solved. It was kind of surprising and refreshing that the conflict didn’t go to a very expected path…
The side characters were interesting as well, mainly Lainey’s mom and BFF, Zoey, and of course Bruce, the slobbing-farting-half horse dog (he was amazing!).
I only had one complaint about this book and that was the lack of sex scenes. Yeah, I don’t expect every book to have explicit sex scenes, not at all, but the way she fantasized about her boss, and from the sexual tension between them, it would have benefited the book if we saw a lot more than what we did. The sex is implied, of course it is, but it was just lacking something.
And while I loved Lainey’s POV, because she was an amazing narrator, I would have liked to read about Brogan’s internal struggle, because breaking the rules that could affect his baby – aka, his company – had to be a hell of a struggle, and it would have been super interesting to hear his thoughts on it.
To sum it up, fantastic NA book! Super cute and fun office romance, with hardly any heat. I would highly recommend it.

This book was hilarious, sensual and heartbreaking all at the same time. The chemistry between the two characters is off the charts and their background stories will rip your heart out. I loved this book and recommend it to anyone who loves a romance with a wonderful storyline to go with it.
