I was in the mood for a light, steamy, with a side of cheesiness that only a rom com can contain and this book absolutely delivered. I loved it and cannot wait for the second book in the series!

Barrett and Chloe have the push/pull love/hate relationship.  She works for his mother as an assistant.  Luckily he doesn't work for the same company but does work in close proximity with Chloe.  They don't jive well though.  At all.  Until Barrett puts his foot in his mouth with a guy planning on selling his company (Barrett wants to be the buyer) by mentioning his girlfriend.  He has a week to find the woman to help him pull this off.

Chloe is throwing a bachelorette party and the venue falls through.  Realizing her boss's apartment is unoccupied for the weekend, she moves the party there.  It's great until Barrett has to go to his mother's house to pick something up and walks in on the party.  Knowing this wouldn't go over well with his mother, and knowing he needs a fake girlfriend, he finds himself proposing an offer she can't refuse.  Literally.

I liked that there wasn't a ton of miscommunication or drama with that kind of stuff.  There was drama and it was good, but it wasn't all about miscommunication.  More like jealousy and it was perfect.

I truly loved this Story! Barrett was a total Jerk in the beginning & Chloe was truly adorable from the beginning. I totally thought I had this book figured out early on; however, Erin put some twists & turns into the Story which kept me truly engaged!! The Narration was Top Notch & totally brought this fun loving Story to life!! This may have been my 1st Erin Hawkins Book - BUT it will not be my last FOR SURE!!

It was more of a 3.5 but I rounded down.

I thought it was an acute very stereotypical billionaire romance. The characters were pretty flat and there wasn’t a ton of dynamics to the relationship but I still thought it was cute for what it was.

I probably would’ve rounded up if they had fostered any kind of dog other than a goldendoodle.

This book was such a fun read. Chloe works as an editorial assistant for Joanna St. Clair at the renowned St. Clair Press, and she somehow gets herself into a sticky situation where Joanna’s son, Barrett, catches her in a compromising moment, leading him to see an opportunity.
Barrett needs a girlfriend, or rather a fake girlfriend, because he doesn’t want to be tied down. When he finds Chloe, he thinks she’s the perfect solution.

The story is witty, swoony, and endlessly entertaining. Chloe and Barrett are meant for each other. She teaches him how to loosen up and realize that while business is important, it isn’t everything. Meanwhile, Barrett shows Chloe that hard work can and will pay off.

I loved the narrators for this book. Connor was the perfect Barrett, while Amanda brought just the right voice to Chloe.

DID NOT FINISH: 4%

DNF ch 2, 22 minutes (3%) into the audiobook. I don't want to read about a CEO hero who doesn't care about his employees and can't stand up to his mother, nor a heroine who's introduction starts with the fact that she hasn't been with anyone in 3 years (meaning the hero is established as DESIRABLE while the heroine has no sex life) 🫠
