i don't mind age gaps in romance but there's something wrong when it's between a 17-year-old (minor) girl and a 29-year-old man. like don't bother making it romantic or aesthetic because it's just pedophilia at the end of the day, and we don't care if the girl is "more mature than her age", that's still a child and the dude can go to jail.
why not make her a college student? they can also experience fluffy romance even when they are already adults!

This was very cute. Imagine a meet-cute with a fan falling for Roman Reigns, if he wasn’t already married. There’s an age gap that feels steep---MC is 18, but he’s 29 (11 years). Uhh… I do like that Momoka chose to be honest and not lie about her age. >.>
I’ve said it before but shoujo loves an age gap for no reason. Surprisingly the manga actually handles this well. Kuga’s wrestling friend legit tells him something like “Leave her alone. Don’t contact her again.” Kuga realizes any romantic connection is inappropriate due to their age/maturity difference despite mutual attraction but still appreciates and wants to acknowledge her as a loyal fan. Momoka is realistically disappointed. Kuga does the right thing for at least 3-4 pages before it goes out the window… because this manga has to guarantee another volume.
While I really like the adorable artwork and think it’s cute Kuga feels noticed for the first time, I wish the age wasn’t the central conflict. As I get older, I get more uncomfortable with these “I’ll wait until you mature before we take things seriously, but let’s date on the low” stories. Also, there’s super insta-love.

These two were so fking cute together I could just die!!!
But Momoka is living the fangirl life she has her fave wrestler Kuga smitten with her as she is with him. They meet exchange numbers and few tweets.. its cute start to their friendship/relationship. But the drama is now about the age gap between the two. I can't wait to read Vol 2
Low angst, Drama, slight secondary character
Recommend-yes

I usually don't mind age gaps, but this one somewhat bothers me.
Not because she is 17 (turning 18) and he is 29 per say, but because she is a 17 (turning 18) high school student while he is a 29 year old professional wrestler. Literally I wouldn't mind if she was a freshman in college, but she isn't. She hasn't even graduated high school yet.
I would have found this a lot more endearing if she was in college, but instead I feel almost uncomfortable reading about them.

Spoiler
What irritates me is he does try to do the right thing and then she, being the teenager she is, blows up by making him seem like an asshole for trying to cool things down between them since she is still a minor. Her father has every right to be concerned about their relationship.I would have found this a lot more endearing if she was in college, but instead I feel almost uncomfortable reading about them.
Thank you, Edelweiss+ and Seven Seas, for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of Yuhi Azumi's Cutie and the Beast, Vol. 1.
This was a great start to a new and unconventional romance manga between a professional wrestler and a high school student. I do appreciate that they bring the age difference to the front, though I could have done without the slight cliffhanger at the end. Azumi's art is adorably shoujo in appearance, yet I think readers will appreciate Kuga's deviation from the typical shoujo love interest for heroine, Momoka.
I'm hoping that this will be a short manga series because it's just so wholesome and pleasant to read. The less over-the-top drama, the better in this reader's opinion. Definitely recommended!

this would have been very cute if not for the disturbing age gap. sorry but a romance between a full grown ADULT--the dude is 29!--and someone who is still in high school will never not be fucking skeevy. even the characters in the manga acknowledge this, have a full blown conversation about how wrong it is, and yet the author goes ahead with it anyway. yeeeaaah no thanks.
i tend to avoid these types of stories but i guess i missed the memo about the age gap. blegh. i won't be buying the next volume.
