A very powerful memoir

Really interesting. A mix of the length stuff I like and this is gonna hurt. Heartbreaking in places but also inspiring. Reminds me why I want to help through law.

I don't read much non-fiction, but I went into this one intrigued as I have an interest in the topic. This book was so so good! It was a brilliant insight to the job that a doctor does, no only in a GP surgery that we are all more familiar with, but the differences and similarities to that work within the prison system. The whole thing was fascinating.

Some of the stories of the inmates were heartbreaking and uplifting and so personal. I can't even imagine what it must be like to work with all of these people on a daily basis and try to do the best you can to improve their lives in some way within the limitations of the prison system. I am very impressed with Dr. Brown's work.

It was really interesting to see how varied things are at the three prisons Dr. Brown worked in. From the different atmospheres, to the different medical problems, to the different people and their reasons for being in prison.

This was an incredible read that I would recommend to anyone. It is a wonderful insight into both the medical and prison systems of England.
