very good murder mystery with plot twists
def thought her friends were up to some shady shit
sad heller died and they didn’t get their happy ending together and she was left with no closure really
dark mysterious tense fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Complicated
Loveable characters: Complicated
Diverse cast of characters: Yes
Flaws of characters a main focus: No

This was not the best book I’ve ever read. The big reveal at the end was quite boring. Also, the main character just kept making one idiotic choice after another. There’s a pretty dangerous lesson in here about what romantic love really is (spoiler alert: it doesn’t include someone making you take the blame for their criminal act, but this book thinks it does). Overall quite disappointing.

This was an interesting book. The plot was decent, though I guessed several of the "twists." The writing style kept me engaged. Overall, it was a decent book. I didn't love or didn't hate it.

I flew through this book. I loved the summer camp setting and the quick chapters that bounced back and forth between the past and present. It didn’t feel like the author or narrator were intentionally holding information back from the reader for extended periods of time, which I appreciated.

I like the themes of this author’s books (female friendship, first loves, outsiders who get a chance to feel like insiders, the feeling of being trapped in a small town). She adds new layers in each book, but I’ve also read all three of her novels in a short period, which makes some of the overlapping themes feel a bit too noticeable.

Definitely would recommend this to someone who wants a quick, suspenseful read.

I think I would have really liked this if I were 18ish. This was described as a "thriller," but I didn't really find that to be true. It took nearly 200 pages to get the story off the ground. Almost gave up on it. The ending was pretty predictable, honestly. Don't know that I'd RECOMMEND this one to anyone, but if you want a pretty easy, mildly entertaining story, good for a recovery from being sick? This works.

DID NOT FINISH: 15%

DNF at 15%.

15% in and there's no death in this thriller yet, just a bunch of over-the-top DRAMA that is so far-fetched and stupid that I can't deal with these kids. I hate that drinking is like a character trait for these teens. It makes no sense why the rich, "you have to interview to get a place here" camp would not only allow but ENCOURAGE their staff to go out drinking during their work week before kids arrive. ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING THEY ARE UNDERAGE.

I went ahead and read some reviews and I basically know the whole plot and guys, it's not worth it so why should I even bother?
