A true 3 - the “case” kept me engaged.
I did not expect the last 50 or so page. I’m glad I didn’t see it coming. I had suspicions, but none that were honed in.
I am just shocked that this is classified as YA. And I’m a little put off with the skewed representation of sleepaway camp.

The scene building was good I enjoyed all the camp stuff it reminded me of my camp days. I really felt for the characters at camp but when the ending was revealed I couldn’t help but be a little disappointed. It wasn’t really a great reason for the murder or the deception. Overall I enjoyed it but not one of my favorites.
Summer, sisterhood & secrets.
This book is, at its core, a love story to the friends we make and the summers we spend with them. They prevail and triumph over the BS that happens all year long.
I love Goldie, a well meaning basic bitch that throws her life away for a boy and spends all year waiting for the 8 weeks of camp. She's an outsider at school & a townie at camp but that's OK, she loves it there. Her girlfriends are there.
Told in a back-and-forth timeline you really just want to pat Goldie on the head, she's such a puppy. Even when she's being bad she's good. I can't hate her, she's just so golden.
The twists and turns are a bumpy ride and the audiobook narrator is great. I can really easily recommend this book as a good, slightly nostalgic, engaging, dramatic poolside read. 3 stars!!

This was such a fun summer camp murder mystery! I flew through it in two days, as the writing style was easy to read and understand, and the plot never had a dull moment. I love how the chapters skipped between “then” and “now”, keeping my mind in a constant state of needing to know more. The mystery was very much a “whodunnit” story, and I love that no matter what my guess was I was always wrong because there was another suspect just around the corner.
I liked the friendship between Goldie, Imogen, and Ava a lot. It showed the realities of growing up and growing apart while trying to maintain friendships. The camp was a safe haven for these girls, a place where they could revert back to what their friendship started out as before the real world came calling. This summer though, they faced a lot of issues that threatened their bond and made them question each other to the point of one being a murder suspect.
The Counselors was a great mystery in my opinion, with enough twists and turns to keep it interesting without overwhelming the reader. It was definitely more of a YA read, but I didn’t mind it one bit as it made for an easy weekend read. Nothing scary enough to keep you up at night, but great for those who love to play detective, this was a great summer camp murder mystery all around.

i feel like i was supposed to feel bad for the person that was murdered but like??? he was toxic and abusive??? why would i care he was murdered? and then not everyone trying to convince the mc he loved her the entire time like??? "he died loving you" "he loved you so much" give me a fucking break. the absolute icing on the cake was that these two who supposedly had this incredible romance dated for like 3 months at the most lmao. as for the "mystery" i literally guessed the plot twist within the first hundred pages so the book was pretty predictable. overall the book was an easy read and it was a good summer read because of the summer camp setting, besides that though it doesn't have much going for it
I'm a sucker for a summer camp story. This was fun and fast.
The writing was not very good, the story felt very basic, and I didn’t care about what would happen to the characters. T
This book was not as bloody as the cover made it out to be, but if you're interested in tax evasion and off shore accounts, then this is the book for you!
Fun read, had a hard time figuring out the ending, which is the best thing about this thriller!
