What I enjoyed most about Invincible, the second in The Chronicles of Nick series by Sherrilyn Kenyon, is the fact that I was able to learn more about Nick, his mother and the mysterious Ambrose as he learned himself.
I liked the bits and pieces that were added in that kept me hooked and wanting to know more about what is to come for Nick and the people surrounding him in life.
This was a definite page turner and kept me away from doing my school work and staying up late on nights that I had work in the morning.

Invincible (Chronicles of Nick #2)
By: Sherrilyn McQueen(Kenyon)
Rating: 5/5
Nick Gautier's day just keeps getting better and better. Yeah, he survived the zombie attacks, only to wake up and find himself enslaved to a world of shapeshifters and demons out to claim his soul.
His new principal thinks he's even more of a hoodlum than the last one, his coach is trying to recruit him to things he can't even mention and the girl he's not seeing, but is, has secrets that terrify him.
But more than that, he's being groomed by the darkest of powers and if he doesn't learn how to raise the dead by the end of the week, he will become one of them...
I just adore Sherrilyn McQueen (Kenyon). I don’ t know that many authors that can write paranormal romances and then write a young adult. She is sooo amazing and skilled with her writing, details that make you feel a part of the story not just reading it. Seriously I have fallen in love with the world of shapeshifters, demons, Greek gods and of course humans. The plot is understandable, and very entertaining.
Sherrilyn is a phenomenal author!!!

I just got done reading this and word to the wise, if you do not read this in tandem with the 1st book, and you have a life to live like i do, you will forget what their talking about and have to go back to refresh your memory. All in all a pleasant read. Its not an earth shattering book or something I will keep on my shelf for re-reads but I feel it is a good continuation of the story and am looking forward to continuing with the 3rd one soon.
funny
fast-paced
Brief summary
Nick now knows that the world is not what it seems and he's trying to figure out his part in everything. Then his coach blackmails him into stealing his teammates personal belongings. Nick doesn't want to do it, but with the threat of death looming over his head, he feels like he has no choice. Add that to all of the stress he's feeling because he doesn't know who he can trust, and Nick has a major headache brewing.
What I liked
I love Nick's attitude and there were a number of times when I laughed out loud while I was reading. I enjoyed seeing more of Nick's powers emerge and I'm excited to see what else he can do!
What I didn't like
This story was interesting, but I felt like things wrapped up a bit too fast and easily at the end.
Brief thoughts
There wasn't enough of the wow factor for me to give this 5 stars, but I still have to say that it's a fast and entertaining read. I'm looking forward to reading book 3.

aaaaaw really like it!! Nick is so cool!! oh baby!
I loved this book! I flew through the story and I loved the dialogue and the humor. I just love this series!
This book kicks off right where we stopped in Infinity. Just like the last book, Kenyon keeps up the pace she created. Nick is still a smart-ass and mouths off left and right -- one of his biggest strengths and weaknesses.
More questions are answered in this book, including some that were obvious to the reader in Infinity, but now have revealed themselves to Nick as well. It will be interesting how these unearthed truths effect him and his relationships with others. So far it seems to be okay, but that could easily change. The life of a normal teenager, with all the hormones included, can create quite a storm at the drop of a hat. With Nick, this means he's even more susceptible.
I loved the character development that we experienced with Mark and Bubba! For me, this definitely explained some of the idiosyncrasies the two of them do. They both seemed so crazy and eccentric in the first book, but now we have been let in on some of the sadness that happened previous to our, and Nick's, meeting of them. I absolutely loved the tender moment spent between Bubba and Nick. So sweet to see them understand one another on a personal level, when previously it was just a bunch of jokes about computers and what "Triple B" stands for. I'm sure more development will occur with them in the books to follow, and hopefully with other characters too. I would love to learn more about Nick's mother, Cherise, and his employers, Kyrain and Acheron.
My favorite part in the book had to beKody's speech on the small moments in life. This is something that I often think about on a daily basis. What if I got up a little earlier or a little later? What if I cooked breakfast or if I went out? Would I meet the love of my life at the local diner before I even finish my coffee? Will I, God forbid, get into a terrible accident on the way there? Kody's discussion with Nick was reassuring to the beliefs I already have, but I could imagine this being even more eye-opening for the target audience of this series, roughly high-school aged kids.
I'm excited to see how Nick takes on the rest of this series, now knowing who he is and the power he is capable of. He appears to have many trustworthy friends around him, one of them even being a girlfriend, but with that cliff-hanger ending...who will betray him?
I immediately wanted to continue reading this series, but I had the last novel of the House of Night: Otherworld series come in the mail as I was finishing Invincible. Temptation for the HoN: Otherworld novel overpowered the temptation to continue on in The Chronicles of Nick with Infamous. Soon though, I'll be back devouring the next four books in this series. I need to know what Nick gets himself into next!
