Had many reviews that said it was funny. I thought the first chapter was an okay start. The second chapter showed me I wouldn’t enjoy this book. Written by a man, which was really my first mistake in buying this book. I returned it within a day.

Dry humor. Slow at times, but laugh out loud at times. Powerful at times. Witty, relatable, and just the right amount of cynical — John Kenney nails the absurdities of life with humor that’s both sharp and warm.
“… you knew him. And isn’t that better than never knowing him… “
“Life isn’t later. It’s now—go live it.”
“This is it. The thing you’ve been waiting for is right here, right now. Do the thing that honors life.”

Chose this as I needed a palate cleanser from some hard non fiction topics so satirical humour it was. The book is well narrated but I would confess I nearly gave up 30 mins in as I didn’t warm to the main character in fact I found him annoying. However I’m glad I persevered as both he and the books premise grew on me plus its humour and characters did grow on me. The subjects of life, death and general life’s disappointments will ring true for many middle aged readers.

In the back drop of New York this dark comedy takes you on quite the journey of understanding what it means to live and how death teaches us that. Absolutely loveeed this one
