I have three favorite books in the self-help/motivation genre and this is one of them.
The other two are 'The seven habits of highly effective people' by Stephen Covey and 'Mindset' by Carol Dweck.
If you enjoyed this book, make sure you check out the other 2 titles. If you enjoyed one of the other titles, definitely try this book.
Out of those 3 books I found this one the toughest to get through, but at least equally as valuable as the other 2.

Fascinating and illuminating but some parts were repetitive.

1 star because It was painful to read about the authors contribution to the IDF.

Note: This book does not work as a library audiobook - there are many prompts to interact with an accompanying PDF that does not come with a library copy.

I find this author routinely makes sweeping generalizations and states his hypotheses as fact. For example, assuming what words the reader was thinking following various prompts, or what visceral reactions were caused by certain words. He makes generalizations about others’ research (such as giving one explanation for how researchers determine sample size, when in fact there are many ways these are determined). Just because he has done it incorrectly, doesn’t mean others have.

There is a bunch of useful information in here but it’s almost like too many topics and examples are packed in - I think it would be better as separate shorter books (maybe with each section as its own freestanding book).

DID NOT FINISH

Too nonfiction… not interesting to me

Not bad, but drags on far too long. By chapter 8 (out of I think around 30) Kahneman has made his point clear several times over. I stopped reading after that chapter. The main concept of system 1 and 2 is told clearly, and seems to be well-supported by the experiments laid out.

This author really used his own psychological principle & made the most interesting ideas the first & last sections of the book 🫵!! Or maybe that’s just me…I was less interested in the statistics / business sections as compared to the more psychology-based parts. The first & last sections were some of the most consistently fascinating informational reading I’ve ever done. & I think there’s something to learn in this book for anyone & everyone!! Such a good mix of case studies & just plain ol’ information.
