I'm so glad I read this because I’m slightly ashamed to admit that I honestly had no idea these camps even existed (to be fair though, I do live across the world from the US, so it’s history is largely reliant on self-research). This is incredibly sad and touching, with some points near the end having me close to tears. Its prose is relatively simple, but it delves deep and teaches you quite a bit of history.

Highly recommend this to everyone. Moments of history like this need to be made known and remembered. As the book says, memories are powerful

This gets some points for educational value, but not much else.

I love the artwork and I thought it did well with explaining generational trauma and the connections from the Interment camps to present day political issues.

I thought the pacing in the last few chapters felt a bit rushed. I would not have mind the book being longer if it meant more chapters.

I did find it a LITTLE weird that
Spoiler the main character had formed a bit of romantic relationship with a person in the past. It just feels weird knowing that in the present day that person is significantly older and/or (in this case) passed away. It always just feels weird when it comes to time travel romances like that....

Other than that, I absolutely loved the book and look forward to reading more of the authors work.
