I really wanted to like this book because I love the idea of "space kid comes down to earth for the first time" but I just didn't like this book. The story dragged, the prose was bad, and the stylistic choice if writing was difficult to read.

It took me a while to get into this book, whether it was the story, not picking it up enough or the grammar, I'm not sure. Once I got in the flow of the book I started to enjoy it. I liked the idea of living in space but wanting to come down to Earth and experience Earth. The conspiracies and mystery-building was spot on. I don't know if I kept comparing it to another space book (172 hours) which was horror and kept expecting the worst whilst reading the book.

Hated the grammar and punctuation of the book. I think it actually brought it down a star for me. The word I was never capitalised and "c" "u". Really grated on me and there was no reason for it! I remember doing my GCSEs when mobile phones and text messaging was starting to happen and our teachers were worried we'd use "text speak" (tx spk) when writing our essays but that soon wore off, now we have predictive text and spell checkers to ensure we're not talking text speak so there's no reason to have it in a book! A book about the future as well!

3.5 stars.

A cute story if quite unbelievable. I was a little disappointed that while it was made pretty clear Leo is gay the word was never actually used. That feels like a cop out to me.

The text speak style is an interesting choice and it took me quite a while to get used to reading it. I assume it's done to make leo seem young but most young people no longer use that kind of chat speak due to autocorrect. As the book is set in the future I would also expect technology for writing to have moved forward at least a little.

3.5/5 is what I would give this book

I really enjoyed it, I didn't LOVE it but I did really enjoy it. The writing was difficult to accept at first (i, u, &, 2) instead of the "regular" type of writing but who cares? I thought it was a breath of fresh air once I read more into it, it made things a little easier to read I personally think.

The plotline is, predictable, but not in a bland way. There are characters I love, (Orion & Libra & Sinnoh anyone) and characters I really didn't like (Leo, his Mom) but that will happen. While Leo was not the best main character because he was kind of bland, I did enjoy how the writing style catered to how he thought and said things.

I also gave this book brownie points for being in space, and I really enjoyed every space part of it. Some parts were stupid like when they didn't account for things (if Mark Watney can account for things like an adult so can the adults in this book) but still the space moments were really fun.

I LOVED the story but the way it was written took some serious getting used to. I don’t understand the thought process behind using all lower case letters and the letters c and u in place of the words (see, you).

Couldn't get past the textspeak. I gave up after maybe chapter 5.
