The Long Way Home

Louise Penny

3.9 AVERAGE

Inspector Gamache and company were wonderful as usual, but the talk of painting and the art world got a little boring for me. Still a 4 though

Probably one of the most character driven of the novels. But, that ending. Tears.

One of the things i love about this series is learning about the different, beautiful areas of Canada of which I would be completely unaware had I not read Louise Penny's works. Beautiful story-telling, always.

**3/5**
I did not see that ending coming, but it wasn't enough to save this installment of the Three Pines series for me. I hope the next one is better.

Soon after I wrote about my frustration with the book (nearly half way in), it picked up a bit as some of the characters left Three Pines. It still really dragged, but I was quite touched by the ending.

I am mostly sad to know this is the last Gamache that Ralph Cosham narrated. He was absolutely fabulous.

It seems as though every other book in this series is boring. I am attached to the characters and will keep reading. #9 was the best yet so I almost knew this was going to be boring. ToooOOOO much art talk. If you love art and detective books I have a book for you! Some of the writing can be very flowery with talk of poems but this was had me pushing to finish. In saying that some drama happened at the end that made me happy that I finished. My prediction is that the next one will be good :)

I don't really like Clara all that much, and she was the main focus of this mystery in the series.

Well that took an unexpected turn. This is definitely an author who doesn’t mind killing off main characters… Beware!

Only 3 stars compared to others in the series. The ending bugged me for some reason - changed course too close to the end so the conclusion felt a bit rushed. Still, I'm loving this series and can't wait to start the next one.
