I've loathed Peter from the very first book, and was certainly happy that the storyline with him knew he was an asshole. This book, focused on him, was made interesting enough by the way the group from the village was working together, and it ultimately had a very good ending, but... Felt like an interstitial story.

I cried at the end of this one, very well done but also heartbreaking.

Oh Ms. Penny you made me cry! I never cry over books. But I guess regardless of the tears, I enjoyed this book thoroughly.
It starts slowly and builds with many twists and turns.
Thank you.
Your books about Chief Inspector Armand Gamache, have touched so many memories for me. Merci!

It was a relief to read this Gamache after the upheaval of the previous two.
