This book allows the reader (and the characters) to take a break and relax. The last couple of books have been tension filled and action packed. The book delves into how each of the characters have been adjusting to their new realities. This book is definitely meant for the readers that faithfully read each novel in the series. It would not do very well as a stand-alone mystery novel.

I love these books but honestly Clara is probably my least favorite character and I feel like Louis Penny keeps trying to force me into liking her. She is practically a main character at this point. Stop the madness!! Gamache and Beauvoir meanwhile just keep getting better.
