Desde el principio ya sabes como termina la historia por muchos "giros" argumentales que haya.

That was a weird book. I'm not sure if I liked it or not. The mystery was great. The writing was suspenseful. The storyline just took some turns I didn't really like. It had some details that the overview didn't talk about. It was uncomfortable in parts. I think with a different type of mystery I would like the book because the author is a great writer! Maybe I'll try another one of her books.

I was disappointed and underwhelmed by this one. I was hoping for more of a mystery or thriller, but it just dragged for me. It felt like nothing happened the whole time, and I was left wondering why I bothered to finish. I was so looking forward to this. I do still plan to read Barton's other books because they seem to be better reviewed.
dark sad tense slow-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: No
Loveable characters: No
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Complicated

I quit! It just was dragging on for me and there are too many books out there....

Me gusto, es unteresante la forma wn la q esta narrado desde la perspectiva de los diferentes personajes. A ratos se hace un poco lento, pero sin dejar de interesar como para abandonarlo.

Where was the suspense!? Where was the twist from left field?! This book left me highly disappointed. Maybe I've watched too many crime shows. But I had about 10 different ways for this to end. None of them were as dull as the real ending. This was def not nearly as good as gone girl.

What a brilliant read! Although it did take a little longer to finish due to being back at work and out of my reading routine - I was gripped every time I picked it up!
.
I loved the short chapters, changing from different time frames and dates/years from the main characters. I do prefer a shorter chapter, so this book was perfect to read.
.
Every time I picked it up to read I just kept thinking to myself who took Bella. Each chapter had me guessing and changing my views on who I thought it was. So many twists and secrets. The book is based on child abduction/pornography, it was tough to read but it was brilliantly written.
.
I would definitely recommend this book, I’m looking forward to reading the next book, The Child.

I decided to read this book as it had popped up on my recommended-on Goodreads, I found the book interesting enough to want to read it and well it was ok, not really mind blowing as I was expecting though from reading the previous reviews.

The book is set from 5 different points of view. Everyone who is critically to this investigation, which are the widow, the husband, the mother, the reporter, and the detective. Everyone is giving their point of views on what happened to Bella Elliott. It mainly focuses on the widow’s point of view as her husband was accused of the crime and wasn’t found guilty and then he died. The main question of this book is did he do it? And to be fair, that was the only thing that made me want to finish this book because I needed to know whether he was innocent or not. The novel is set around London, England, which was weird for me as I read a lot of fantasy, so it was unusual for me to read a book based on an actual place. This novel is a fictional mystery book.

It is difficult to name what I like about this book, but I guess I liked the characters especially Bob Sparkes and Kate Waters. I would love to see more from them as a friendship because they were just great together. That’s about it though, the book was very slow. Some chapters just dragged on and it took me forever to read this and the ending was so frustrating like I wanted more of an explanation.

I feel like this book had so much potential, but it was just slow and not really gripping. Many people would probably not finish this book, but I was determined to find out if he did it or not. I am hoping the next book in the series is better.

This was not my favorite mystery of the summer. I found the characters to be sad....and not really enjoyable at all....
