This book had a lot of things wrong with it, but it was easy to read, and I guess mostly entertaining.

Why has it taken me so long to start this series!? *face plam* -- full review soon.

Update:
Yeah this book rocked. Although most of it was very similar to other reads (we all know which ones make that top list) I tried to get over it because I knew the whole paranormal aspect of it would be different then pretty much all other paranormal books that I have read.

I mean aliens?! Really?! When I first found out what they were I won't lie I was actually kinda disappointed. Really, Aliens?!?! I kind of did an eye roll and continued on my way.

So yes, I totally take that eye roll back. Once you heard the complete story, the history etc I was intrigued. Armentrout did an amazing job with this one!!

Characters - Yeah I always have to get into them.
Dee - Yeah can I please have a best friend like her? A spunky, excited, sweetheart that only made you smile.

Daemon - Alright ladies and gents, before you go all "OH NO YOU DIDN'T!" on me let me explain. Unless you have extremely low standards -- he is an asshole plain and simple. Any guy with that much cockiness and bad attitude would be a rug under my feet for all I care. Waste of skin to me -- or in this case, a waste of bright light. I'd rather sit in the dark. BUT -- yes calm down there is a "but" he kinda grew on me. For once we saw those "good" sides of him which actually yes, made me like him a little bit more. Who am I trying to kid, I love the bad boys and hes definitely one of those. Plus being sexy gives him bonus points haha. Just wish he was little less jerky in the beginning.

Katy -- You go girl, that's all I can say. For maybe the first time in a fictional book, I have seen a girl actually stand up for herself against a meany like Daemon. There were moments where I had to clap and cheer and spread some womenly praise for her actions. I like you Katy Swartz -- I like you very much ;)

In the end -- I picked up this book and pretty much didn't stop reading it until the end. It was great, really great and I don't know why I have waited so long to start this series.

I will give myself a slap on the hand so you don't have too.

Besides, I may already be half-way into the second so yeah -- I'm with the rest of you fangirls about swooning over Daemon. He's proven himself ;)

yum.

What can I say of this book? I'm gonna read the next one because why not.

Why did I take so long to start this series? I came across it about a year ago and it piqued my interest. But, I'm glad I finally decided on reading the first book. I'm not really a big paranormal person and I don't usually enjoy YA, but this book had so many strong elements that it made Obsidian addicting to read.

You would think something as cliched as new girl moving to town would be boring, but throw in some aliens and bad guys and you have yourself an amazing story. I think the book was well written and balanced considering the subject matter. The fact that Katy is a high school student wasn't forgotten but the alien aspects didn't overshadow everything.

As far as main characters go Katy was refreshing. I enjoyed the back and forth with Daemon and thought that the relationship between the two was adorable. I can't wait to finish the series and see what's ahead! Hopefully the other books do not disappoint.
