Single mom (aunt guardian), neighbor, slow burn, age gap
MMC: Dallas ; 41
FMC: Diane; 29
3.7⭐️ it was just such a slow burn, it kept dragging like the actual official getting together happened in the last 1hr30 of the book out of the estimated 8+hrs. Basically she moves in to a new house with her two nephews and he lives next door, plot twist he’s married but is he? So now she’s accepted they can’t be together but he coaches a kids baseball team and her nephew plays the game. So from going to games, having dinners and becoming friends they get to know each other and all that.
“You’re never getting your big red thing back if I have anything to say about it.
“So I’m not imagining it?” I pretty much whispered. “No, baby, you’re not.” Dallas squeezed my fingers between his.
“You got me down?” he asked before I’d even saved the date. “I’m about to.” “Good. Make me your six o’clock from now on. Any day you want, I’ll make it work.”…. “For how long?” I asked slowly. “For as long as that calendar will let you.”
“Of all the houses you could’ve bought, you got the one across the street from me. Of all the sports Josh might have played, it was baseball and I happened to coach his age group. You were meant to be in my life.”
“I always thought you looked like mine, but you sure do fucking feel like you’re mine, too,”
