It wasn’t until recently that I had read the original novel by JM Barrie. And it wasn’t until then I realized that perhaps Peter wasn’t all that he seemed to be. The novel was odd, giving Peter cruel and even more mischievous undertones as he’s always instigating everything, all of which were not apparent in the Disney film. It made me think: what if Peter was the real villain.
I don’t know how this novel was brought to my attention, but it caught my eye. This novel explains it perfectly, exploring how Peter is the true source of evil on Neverland. Everyone else, including Captain Hook, are merely his victims.
Beautifully written, the novel brings upon a new light to Peter Pan. More importantly, it tells the origin story of Captain James Hook and how he came to hate Peter. A definite read for any fans.

This was the pick me up I needed after some let downs this month. I am probably a little biased as I love the story of Peter Pan and Captain Hook, and especially the ideas of Peter being not what he seems. This was a Hook origin story and I really liked what Henry did with the lore and characters. As an oldest sibling, Jamie was so relatable. I felt for him even when the characters he was attached to weren't well developed, he was and his emotions were so it picked up the slack a bit. There was a lot this could have done better, the ending was a little rough and some of the characters were a little flat but overall it was really good. Hands down I would read a sequel.
