This one was definitely better than its predecessor. Like that I read it out loud to my son at bedtime (while he was polishing off book four in the series). The wimpy kid is definitely developing as a character, and he's pretty selfish and objectionable most of the time. His total lack of empathy adds to the fascination that makes it an interesting story. I've read other reviews where people complain about this, but for me the character flaws add depth and make him a more interesting read. They also allow for some in depth discussions with children about opinions on the issues. While the wimpy kid apparently has no insight into his own behaviour, the kids that read him are more than aware of how horrid he is to the others in the stories.
This is the second volume of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid saga. Mostly, Greg Heffley, the wimpy kid, is having issues with his bullying older brother, Roderick. Sometimes he gets one up on Roderick, sometimes not.
A lady around the corner has a third grader who adores the Wimpy Kid books, so I figured I should check them out. I suggested to my son to try some on his Anderson, who is finishing up second grade. It has the kind of slapstick, slightly off color humor that boys of that age generally seem to like .

ICONIC
I will say I am very biased as this is my favorite of all of the books, the movie is one of my top 10 of all time. And Rodrick changed so much of who I am. I always actually wanted an older brother like him, yeah he's an asshole at times, but honestly Greg fucking DESERVES IT.
It's nice to be reading something so just simple, mindless, but still silly and fun all the same.

- Another hilarious book about Greg and his life in middle school.
- I was really curious about what happened to Greg over the summer that was so embarrassing, so I'm glad the book delivers at the end.
- I thought Greg was a jerk, but it is probably because Rodrick is an even bigger jerk!
- The Dungeons and Dragons knock off game made me laugh. I got a kick out of Greg's mom playing the game too.
- I think it is ironic that Greg is so embarrassed by some things, but other stuff doesn't bother him. For instance, he thought it would be fun to join the old lady water aerobics class.
- Again the illustrations were funny and fun! I love them!

I felt the magic of my childhood and practiced reading in Spanish and was nostalgically brought back to my relationship with my own brother. I accomplished so much by reading this book!
Mucho mejor que el anterior, este sí me hizo reír en varias ocasiones y me pareció más interesante en varios sentidos. EL primer libro fue más como una introducción a la vida de Gregory y era más sarcástico, ¡pero este lo supera muy fácilmente!
Not as good as the first book, but still humorous and with the same nature as the original story. I missed Fregley though!
I decided to read this up because 1) I remember reading it over and over as a kid and 2) I needed some help to limp into my reading goal for the year by the end of tomorrow. I didn't have the first book so I read the first sequel I had kept from childhood. It was quite hilarious and the humor is still spot-on. I think this book probably informed my sense of humor more than I would have possibly thought before revisiting it and it makes sense why I read it so many times in middle school.
do you ever wonder if jeff kinney even considered the possibility of thousands of teenage girls falling in love with rodrick when he wrote this series, or is it just me?
