A long and steamy history of love

I have to agree with a friend of mine and say that Charlie and Nix are my favorite couple in the Serendipitous Love series. I enjoyed the intense connection that they shared...steamy! Nix was my type of guy

Okay wow

I definitely think Charlie and Nix are my favorite couple now. Their story and their love is so real and relatable. Gosh, I didn’t want it to end.

Love, Love even in difficulty

Beautiful story dealing with some complex issues. Loss of a baby, divorce are heavy things to deal with in families period. I enjoyed reading the love stories of this community. Great story of overcoming and communication. This was a feel good story.

Ms. Jones did it again

Ah man; I fell in love with Nix and Charlie. Catching back up with other characters from the fictional neighborhood I wish was real was a treat, too.

I’m torn between a 3 and 4 so we’ll go with 3.5 which, if you read my reviews, you know that isn’t a round up for me! As a preface to my review and the rating I give it, I have read quite a few CCJ books and I love her! This book is not bad at all, I don’t dislike it, and the writing is fine. Do with that as you wish..

Now that aside, I’m having a love/hate relationship with this book. Second chance romance is my favorite trope so I might have slightly high expectations for what I want to see. While I was ultimately rooting for Charlie and Nixon, something felt like it was missing. I absolutely understand Charlie’s frustration with Nixon and the circumstances surrounding their breakup. I don’t condone cheating at all but I also kind of get where he was coming from when he said he thought they were over. If Charlie knew for YEARS marriage was a hard no for him, tells him marry me or else, then leaves without a word for days, what did you expect? Should he have climbed in someone else’s bed right away absolutely not BUT I can see why he’d say he thought they were done!

Nixon absolutely should not have followed up their reconciliation with that phony proposal though! That made the whole thing 10 times worse! Then Charlie shouldn’t have hopped on the next man to smile at her and marry him! Then she comes back to her hometown and again jumps to the first man to smile at her when she obviously didn’t want to. It was clearly a petty “let me occupy myself with this man so I stay away from the man I don’t want to want” situation and I hate that! Again, I was ultimately rooting for them but there were so many things that just felt childish and like it spiraled out of control because Charlie and Nixon couldn’t just talk to each other!

Now why I was rooting for them -
I love the high school sweethearts but not really vibes. The town knew Nixon was in love with Charlie way before he made a move and he made sure other guys backed off. It was adorable! I also enjoyed their shared passion for food, the little family that was their friends. The situation with Noah was tragic so I was really rooting for their rainbow baby and so glad they got two! When they did start communicating they were a golden couple. I give props to Nixon for coming home, even if he slept on the couch, after a disagreement. I loved that Charlie started communicating her needs while making sure to affirm Nixon. When you could see how much they had grown it was really good!

So far book 3 is my favorite. In this book we meet Charlie. Charlie has come back into town but her live is in shambles. The one place she ran from she is back to try and get her life on track. Her husband is back in California and is facing some serious issues. All Charlie want to do is get her life back on track.

Nixon, Charlie ex-boyfriend, is still running the restaurant they opened together. He has always regretted the mistake he made when dealing with Charlie. He hoped to one day make amends. All he want is his restaurant and his girl back.

I was taken on a journery reading about these two. Charlie and Nixon dealt with a lot of emotional issues. I absolutely loved reading about their story. Christina Jones wrote some very vivid scenes. I loved it. Now when I think about these characters I will think about macaroni and cheese.
