this book has been on my TBR for yearssss and i hate that it took me this long to finally read it. so so so good! granted, i might be biased because i was craving a super chill read, but i honestly loved this book.
hannah and garrett were just chef’s kiss. their romance wasn’t overly cringe, it felt natural. their dialogue flowed well, everything about the way they bantered and teased each other felt real. like hannah calling him “dude” or them jokingly calling each other dumbasses, made their relationship so authentic and cute.
hannah (fmc): i wasn’t expecting to like her as much as i did… hear me out! i’ve read elle kennedy before, and in the past i felt like her heroines were written for the male gaze and they lacked depth. but hannah was such a refreshing change. she stood on business, was unapologetically herself, and she didn’t just fold for the hot jock. and i don’t mean that in the “not like other girls” way… she just genuinely felt realistic. her backstory was handled with a lot of care and it shaped the way she carried herself. her story felt authentic without being her entire identity.
garrett (mmc): when i first started, i honestly didn’t think i’d like garrett. mostly because i usually don’t like dual povs… the mmcs are either unrealistically perfect or overly objectifying (which is what garrett was) but 50% in, that went out the window. i was just as swooned as hannah. garrett was funny and hot (need that). i loved that he fell first (and harder). i’m also a sucker for the “manwhore who doesn’t do relationships until one girl changes everything” trope, and kennedy nailed it here.
overall: this was a fun romance with surprisingly strong character depth. kennedy brought in some heavy topics including rape and physical abuse but she wrote about them in a way that felt respectful and real.

I was looking for a light and fluffy sports romance to read between two emotionally charged books and this perfectly met that need. It was not the best or most riveting story I’ve read this year, but it was very cute and I enjoyed getting to know the characters.

i read this book thinking it was some underground wattpad esque romance that i randomly came across and i was like “wow that was pretty good for trashy chick lit” and then i found out that people are like obsessed with it??? there was nothing special or unique about this but i liked it anyway. very good mindless reading
Love love love me some Garrett Graham. He’s my number one hockey boy forever and forever I think. I really liked the plot of the book and love Garrett and Hannah they weren’t boring characters and both had flaws of their own. I loved how Elle Kennedy wrote about Hannah’s trauma and how it wasn’t resolved in a few pages I see that happen to often in books. Also loved the multiple point of views especially when Hannah broke up with Garrett. I think it made it more painful because we as readers saw both sides and how each was hurt ugh had me sobbing bc I’m emotional
Don't ever let anyone tell you that you have to know anything about hockey or college to write a college hockey romance.
