I’m on year two of the Agatha Christie challenge. I have seen the Poirot Sad Cypress but still enjoyed the way Christie teased out the trial and the verdict and dropped all the clues in our path! Another good little mystery.

I really enjoyed this story. It grabbed my attention and kept it more than most of Christie's books. It is interesting for the inclusion of the court case against the accused woman, Elizabeth. The story centers around her being accused of murdering a rival in love. The dead girl is a former friend and has acted as companion to Elizabeth's late Aunt, who left a significant fortune to Elizabeth. When Elizabeth's cousin & fiance decides to break off the engagement in a desire for the rival, the motive is set.

I liked several of the twists in this book as well. I'm also surprised that
Spoiler Poirot never completely identifies the real murder, even though it's fairly certain at the end.
I have to say this has been the most enjoyable of the Poirot stories I've read in perhaps the last dozen.

Not one of the strongest of the Poirot books but still a nice way to spend a few hours. Elinor is on trial for the murder of a woman named Mary who had been a sort of companion to Elinor's aunt. Told in a series of flashbacks as Poirot starts investigating the case against Elinor seems quite grim indeed. The main problem I had with the story is with Elinor, she is not someone easy to root for.
