This was a really enjoyable novel. I think the author did a good job of balancing smut with emotions and plot, and the chemistry and tension between Joy and Malachi was off the charts. I really liked Malachi as a MMC - his gentle, respectful demeanor was so at odds with his buff, demon exterior and he really was a perfect book boyfriend. Joy was well written too - I really felt her fear and emotions from her past sexual trauma, and I could feel her relief as she was able to reclaim herself throughout the book. I loved how Joy was immediately introduced with 'deliciously fat' as a descriptor and how her fatness was a clear positive all the way through the book.

My only negative is that I was a little unclear on the demon and deal lore. I felt like Malachi's past wasn't super clear and I kept hoping it would be a reveal or a discussion between the couple at some point, but that never came. I was unsure how he was able to escape the sect where he was being kept captive, or even why he was being held captive if demons gaining human souls is the main goal. Similarly, I think the way demon deals work could have been clarified. Joy makes 3 deals and her first one introduces the fact that if a human makes a deal with their soul, when they die they will go to hell - no questions asked. We are led to believe her first deal is unusual in that she avoids exchanging her soul, but by the time we get to the 3rd deal she exchanges her soul for Malachi's commitment. Which is quite romantic as a more-permanent-than-marriage thing, but does this mean when she dies she's going to hell? I don't think Malachi would want that and therefore would not agree to the deal.

The ending shocked me to say the least
