Joy summons a demon to help her murder the man who raped her (full content warnings list at the beginning of the book). The book hits the ground running, and keeps up a good pace throughout its 200 pages - no scene feels unnecessary or like filler.
While the book hits some heavier and darker plot points (I mean, we are murdering rapists here) it's also very sweet - the romance between Joy and Malachi is lovely, and as someone who prefers queer romances over straight ones, it delivers on that too (Joy is bisexual, both characters ask each other for their pronouns when they meet,). And, of course, the book is set in Nigeria, and I'm always happy to find a book that's not set in USA.
While the book hits some heavier and darker plot points (I mean, we are murdering rapists here) it's also very sweet - the romance between Joy and Malachi is lovely, and as someone who prefers queer romances over straight ones, it delivers on that too (Joy is bisexual, both characters ask each other for their pronouns when they meet,

Oh this was highly enjoyable.
I'm starting to think I haven't read NEARLY enough revenge fantasies for my liking because this one was absolutely magnificent. Not only do we get a plus-sized POC as the MC but there are also themes of gender and sexuality?? A bisexual MC? Snippets of Nigerian culture? God this was so good. The romance was soooo sweet too. This was a quick read but it was so good I wished it was longer.
The emotions involved in this were very real as well. I think the author approached Joy's trauma and the lingering effects of what she went through very well. The book puts a respectable amount of time in engaging you in the aftereffects of what she went through while also making it clear that what she wants above anything else is revenge for what she went through and, besides a few moments of human wondering, it doesn't try to go the route of "she knows what she's doing in wrong" or anything like that. Always a refreshing attitude to have and it makes the whole story 10x more enjoyable.
I just can't recommend this book enough to be honest. I enjoyed every second of it.

Life got in the way while I was reading this book; hence why it took so long for me to get through it. Regardless, this was such a fantastic read!! I thought about this book all the time when I couldn't read- a telltale sign that you're reading a banger if there ever was one, LOL
This book was deeply cathartic. Imagine getting to kill your abuser with the help of a devoted demon to help you get away with it? Sign me the fuck upppppp, no more questions need to be asked!

This somehow managed to feel intense and cozy at the same time, and I loved it. I loved everything about this. Joy is a badass, plus-size, bi queen, and I absolutely adore her. Malachi is the softest demon ever, and he is so adorable in his relationship with Joy. I mean, he blushes. A demon blushes! The rep is amazing, and the story is just so good. We love a good revenge plot over here. Many of Joy's struggles and internal dialogue was so relatable, and I honestly felt quite seen in that process. It has a lot of emotions, but it's approached in such a respectful way. I also loved the small mention of Joy's hysterectomy due to uterine fibroids. I have had the exact same experience, and I know I am not the only one, but I have NEVER seen it addressed in any story I have read. It may have just been a small mention here, but I still loved seeing that. Also, the spice was spicing in this one. Top-tier and zero notes coming from me there. I fell in love with this story immediately, and that feeling stayed true throughout the entire book. I HIGHLY recommend this one to everyone.
